One of my favorite shows as a kid, but I tried watching it again as an adult and the magic just doesn't work anymore. It's not that I now think it's a BAD show, but unlike a lot of childhood cartoons that I can still somewhat enjoy, it just doesn't capture my attention anymore for whatever weird reason.

Damn shame, but here we are.

I think it's just a part of growing up.

Ed Edd n Eddy was the reason why I would always tune into Cartoon Network. It's also one of the few shows that consistently stays good until its end. That series finale movie was a great send off if you were invested into the show.

I did watch the movie, and it was decent. I never liked the later seasons though, even as a kid. Pretty much anything that happened after Jimmy was revealed to be an evil genius was dumb.

I expected the later seasons taking place during winter and school to suck, but they have their own charm to it. My favorite school episode is the one where everybody makes a bet to not do their usual traits (Ed with gravy, Edd with his vocabulary, Eddy with yelling, Johnny with Plank, Rolf with eating meat, Kevin with saying dork.)
 
Holy shit I was so scared I was about to see an announcement for a netflix reboot, fuck you op

My favorite episode was where they kept getting sidetracked trying to make an omelet, or the one where they imitated each other.
 
one of my all time favorite cartoons. it reminds me alot of when i was a kid how me and my friends did everything we could to kill boredom by coming up with all these schemes and games. nowdays, kids would rather play with their phone than play with other kids outside around their neighborhood.

Part of the charm I guess was that the show felt timeless, like it could easily take place in the 50s or the 2000s and it wouldn't feel stale because it had a near-universal depiction of childhood that most everyone in developed countries could relate to which was combined with the tried and true forms of physical comedy and absurdism found in classic animation.

I honestly don't bother rewatching shows from my youth unless I'm curious about episodes I never saw or want to remember something specific. Although I have watched clips on youtube and they're as good as I remember them, but it proves that certain things are best enjoyed during that time of your life even if they've aged well. Although I remember the seasons that took place in their school to be stale as fuck for me back then. Saw some clips recently and they still look stale, with the exception of the Christmas special and that movie finale.
