Thinking about the hip hop scene when X debuted is interesting. Glam Rap was taking off thanks to Diddy and Will Smith. And No Limit records was blowing up. But X was pretty dark compared to "Its all about the Benjamins", "Getttin Jiggy With It" or "Make Em Say Uhh". And something like "Let Me Fly" sounds way more sincere than "I Miss My Homies", though that was mostly corny than fake.
 
I know nothing about rap music. X was fucking amazing. He had a really messed up life getting clean and high leaving rap going into preaching and sliding back.

He had this skill to go commercial and sell records when talking about the most fucked up topics, with out being 2 edgy, 4 me to get signed, or lacking quality, there's some rappers that like just talk about dumb shit to a level it's not even good music like so... i pooped on a baby... maybe see it rhymes! where X got you hyped as fuck and dropped a brutal verse about literally raping a dude's kid in front of him, the most fucked up shit out there.

When I do my big lift days X is always on my play list he gets me so hype.
 
Wow, I thought this was a troll thread but he really didn't make it. It makes sense, he was too real to live for sure. Legend status. It would've been weird for him to just age out gracefully. But its still sad. When "Its Dark" came out I was in middle school and it was so forbidden, it was the coolest thing to be able to have, because at that same time all the parental advisory stuff was going on and it wasn't easy to get from a store as a kid.
