Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
The Chrysalids by John Wyndham
Only Forward by Michael Marshall Smith

If we can expand beyond literature, I can recommend some films. THX-1138, Logan's Run, Brazil. and Soylent Green. THX-1138 is a future run by AI and the population is kept in a docile & productive state. No emotion, no thinking, only work. Logan's Run is also an AI run society, but all your wants and desires are provided. Everyone is happy, and no one gets old as the population is limited by "suiciding" anyone over 30. Brazil is a future of over developed technology & bureaucracy to the point where humanity is lost under a sea of policy and procedures. Soylent Green is an over-populated world with dwindling resources and is based on the novel Make Room! Make Room! by Harry Harrison. Incidentally, Harrison's series about Bill the Intergalactic Hero were some of my favorite sci-fi comedies akin to the Hitchhiker's series.

I'll also post the txt files of both 1984 and Brave New World, for anyone that wishes to read them. I saved them a few decades ago from websites, so please excuse any html code in them.

Brave new world by Aldous Huxley
My favourite argument about the book is arguing why it's dystopic compared to regular society. Like it feels wrong for a lot of social and generic engineering, but pretty much everyone is happy and the people dissatisfied are put in a resort with like minded people so they won't feel excluded.
