Why do people even like Dumbo? I always thought the movie was just mean spirited. After all, it is essentially the story of a little boy being bullied since the day he was born until he discovers he has "value" cause his deformity gives him some superpower.
Dumbo, for all that is worth, could be easily turned into the story of a school shooter if done with real actors and after listening to Elliot Rogers long enough.

No matter how the rest of the film turns out (unpopular opinion i'm cautiously optimistic for this), the pink elephants are definitely going to be a highlight. That said, there's always the original.
It wouldn't shock me if Burton said that the main reason he signed on was to do the Pink Elephant sequence.

The review embargo just lifted. It's at around 50% right now.

I forgot it hadn't come out yet. Like I thought it already had but no one's gone to see it because no one wanted a live-action Dumbo.

But lol 50% :story:. Comparing it to the animated film is completely pointless, but I guess it says something when less reviews give it a much higher score.

EDIT: Figured I might as well post the Far Side comic because I'm shocked no one else here thought of it.

Out of all the Disney remakes, this one seems to have less of a reason to exist than all the others. Dumbo's a fun little movie that Walt made in order to calm shit down after the big booming efforts of Snow White, Pinocchio, and Fantasia. That's all it was. Adding a creepy CG elephant abomination won't put butts in the seats because the story is already small and simple. Remaking it literally adds no layers or fresh ideas at all because there's no room for any.

The last good thing Tim Burton made was Sweeney Todd in 2007. Guy needs to retire already.

Wait, you're telling me a modern day Tim Burton movie sucks? Who could've seen that coming?

This was a dumbo moveo by Disneyo to releaseo this, and I won'to be watchingo ito.

Not that I was ever going to, since I thought the animated film was enough. I don't see how it can possibly succeed when it's surrounded by capeshit: Captain Marvel is still running, The Real Captain Marvel comes out a week after its release, and Endgame (starring Captain Marvel) releases in April. This just seems like another throwaway movie Disney isn't really banking on being a hit because they have the cash to throw away like that.

This movie has just one goal. Make sure to depict Dumbo getting drunk.
Apparently there isn't a pink elephants scene beyond an allusion.

The one thing that should've been a no-brainer when you hear "Tim Burton Dumbo remake" isn't even in the movie.

I liked Frankenweenie. I think the issue is that Tim is still decent at animation but has completely forgetten how to do ANYTHING with live actors
