Kids today don't have the attention span to wait for up to a week at a time for every new episode. If they aren't dumped and binged, then they're quickly forgotten.
It's a shame we got to this point at all. I miss the days of having patience.

I don't understand children's programming. No new episode for six months and then they burn through the rest of the season in a week.

Maybe they realized their moon plot was stupid and just wanted to get this shit over with.

Disney is literally ripping off what CN is doing with Steven Universe with the episode bomb format. If you look the responses to this post, you would see that there's quite a few who hated this format for various reasons. So I fucking doubt Disney is doing it because that's how the kids are these days.
I suspect they are testing out any airing format to boost viewers by creating a drought of content only for them to dump it all in two weeks, regardless of the quality or not. I doubt the exec care if the story is shit or not, all they care about is numbers and money. That's it.

Although I missed the first 15 minutes of the season finale, I enjoyed what I saw. But what made me the most excited was the last few minutes...

Involving FOWL, a few returning characters, Steelbeak, and the buzzards being a secret enemy. I'm hoping this will eventually lead to Darkwing Duck getting his own spin-off show.

Didn't they throw Darkwing Duck under the bus, and then repeatedly back up and forward the bus over him?

That being said I actually do love the new series, even if the animation is objectively worse than the original series. I even like Lin Miranda as Gizmoduck, and ordinarily I hate anything he's involved with.

Everybody's putting in good work here. (except maybe Julie Bowen, but hopefully she fucks off back to the moon for the rest of the series)

if we're being fair here, you can't really top TMS in their prime. The later episodes of the 1987 series and even the tie-in movie are proof of that.

The weird, angular, comic-like art isn't nearly as good as the traditional designs, but on the plus side it's not the hideous jellybean head, noodle-arm CalArts style like just about every other post Adventure Time series.

I wondered if they were going to pull a Grey Ghost with Jim Starling and make whatever episode brings him in end with becoming a serious superhero. I figured out he was the reboot's Negaduck soon enough. Which worked as a way to give Darkwing a dark mirror without bringing in Megavolt's machine or another Earth.

All in all, I'll say it worked but Dewey shouldn't have been in the episode.

They are doing it because it would cut into their reruns of Live Action Tween stuff, Ducktales probably has "The Wrong Vewier groups".

To be fair, he is a literally who in universe at the moment, and it is not like he got treated much better than the gods. The only person who doesn't get thrown under the bus is Scrooge himself.

I wonder if they'll try to spin the Petes as sleazy analogues of the Trump Dynasty. We know Goofy's his Goof Troop version here, so I can see that as a way to modernize Pete.

Pete (and by default, his family) are only ever just one or two steps above Mickey and friends, even when it was just Goofy in Goof Troop, and then A Goofy Movie. He's a bit better off, not ultra wealthy. Anyways there are already a lot of wealthy villains in DuckTales, we don't need more. Pete the sleazy car salesman will do just like before.

We don't have a rich villain who stands in for the Gordon Gecko-style "new rich" post-Baby Boom fellows sleazebags though. Mark Beaks is a tech mogul, Gromgold might be young enough but he's too silly.

How the hell does Kate Micucci (The VA for the new version of Webby, among quite a few other things...) Simultaneously look 15 years younger and 15 years older than she actually is (She's 39).
