Money. Literally that simple; as a big name partner with them the victim could have gone to court which would have incurred more in legal fees than anything than just a settlement. Big organizations always choose to settle things than take someone to court.

I swear, I wish I made my comment last night before this thread popped off because, yeah, it did turn into 20 pages of debating age limits on the definition of pedophilia and similar bullshit.

Frankly, I don't care if the minor in question was 13 years old, 17.95 years old or even if he was going after someone 20 years old. What chaps my ass is that Beahm is a married man with a child who decided to throw away a life most people can only dream of in order to chase a cheap, fleeting thrill. And before someone twists my words, no, I don't think it's right for someone over the age of majority to be sexting a minor, but him doing the same thing with someone of legal age is still creepy when he has a family.
 
When I first heard about this guy years ago I had a gut feeling he was no good.

You're right. A 40 year old man playing dress-up and pretend so he can play a children's hobby with other children. More red flags than a Russian military parade.

To be fair if he said there was a victim unwilling to speak when nobody had a clue about the ban reason you already narrowed down the reason quite a lot. Odds are that he heard this from some source and didn't have direct contact with the victim anyway even if he even wanted to report it to the authorities. If I was in his position I would take the same approach, both amazon and a hugely popular streamer came into an agreement to keep something under the wraps, no way in hell I'm taking the risk of losing everything I have due to court costs to "expose" a streamer and then having the added fun of being blamed for bringing attention to the victim when she didn't want it.

Even if that's the case, the various statements he made at the time were entirely devoid of any information whatsoever and added literally nothing to the ongoing discourse. They served no purpose other than injecting his name into the conversation to the potential detriment of the victim. Maybe I won't fault him for sitting on this bombshell for years but I'll sure as heck call him a fucking clout-chasing rat who needs to slink back into whatever shithole he crawled out from. Generally speaking he's a clown and in any other case, whatever comes out of his mouth should be taken with a huge grain of salt.

It does make you appreciate the men who aren't coom-rotting wastes of air that look after the young girls in their lives a little more,
