"Doxing" in 2025

The amount of autistics in this thread who think we need to band together to choose an official replacement word is unreal, there's like two dozen things you can call it and they're literally all fine for communicating what you mean without being the name of an actionable criminal offence. Just say whatever.
 
I support the change in nomenclature. If it will help make things better for the site and the perception out there I'm all for it.

I will try to use public information, research and documentation in my forum speech but I suck at dox so I probably won't be using it much anyway.
 
I once again suggest we use blacking. No one will think we're an evil hacker site when we talk about Nick Fuentes getting Blacked.

"Noticing" already means something else.
 
Why not use any or all these euphemisms until one catches hold? We can't just vote on a new meme, it needs to grow organically.

Additionally, do we really need just one euphemism or meme? As long as others understand what you're talking about, a lot of these are mostly interchangeable for this purpose, such as "documenting" and "archiving".

As for a word filter, if such becomes necessary, I suggest "PROVIDED LEGAL CONTENT ABOUT". Then a sentence that once read "I doxed Jane Doe on Instagram" would read "I PROVIDED LEGAL CONTENT ABOUT Jane Doe on Instagram". Dox could be "LEGAL CONTENT". The sentence "Here is Jane Doe's dox from Instagram" would read, "Here is Jane Doe's LEGAL CONTENT from Instagram".

Comedy option: filter all forms of "Dox" to "DICKS". Here is Jane Doe's DICKS. Jane Doe got DICKS on Instagram. This is the one I like.
