What's even the point of having a download speed faster than 200 Mbps, other than when you're downloading massive things? I stayed at a dorm at my college during summer last year (had a work-study and classes) and had a full gigabit download speed thanks to almost everyone being gone, but never actually noticed the difference except when downloading large games. Even at 150 Mbps you can watch 4k 60FPS Youtube videos without pausing, IIRC.

It's called "family".

Sometimes, people live with other people who also like to use the internet.

96.6 - 81.9 Mbps down speed
5.66 - 4.52 Mbps upload speed
Fast.com says it's 110 Mbps. I was expecting much worse considering how horrid my ISP's service is.

Found the salty DSL fag. Why would you need more then 640KB of RAM?

If you're backing up whole youtube channels for Kiwifarms or general archival purposes, then even a gigabit isnt enough. I'm backing up lets play videos and it takes everything my 110Mbps can throw at it and makes it beg for mercy. Hopefully getting upgraded to 400/20 tomorrow.

Also if your upload is crap you could have ten gigabit, it would make no difference because your upload will throttle download.

I was on 3Mbps from a really cheap grandfathered plan a while ago. I could still get 720p YouTube just fine, and I had no problem except with how game updates are commonly well into the gigabytes, and even a 2GB update would take most of the day while it ain't shit for everyone on 50Mbps or above.

Even if someone else was streaming something in another room, we could both get a smooth 480p.

~$35 a month or something like that. I upgraded from 100 to 250 because it cost roughly two bucks more.

480p only requires 1Mbps and it's also perfectly fine to stream Netflix in SD on a Wii using a 1Mbps connection, the last one impressed me when I saw it.

Not bad for a third world shithole. Also I'm paying for half of what I'm getting, which is great since everyone should take as much as possible from telecom companies while giving as little as possible. Fuck 'em.

I pay for 100mb down so this is upsetting. I've probably had my ISP out here 9 times this year and maybe 20 phone calls with them. There has been no consistent explanation. Reliably streaming 4k videos on YT is okay 50% of the time. My ISP recommends using their router for optimal speeds, and while I tried a $90 Nighthawk it's pretty much the same speeds. Anyone know what the deal may be?

Spectrum's base package is 100Mbps, except in former Time Warner Cable and Bright House markets where the speeds are doubled to 200Mbps.

Their speeds aren't uniform, which is why I have that speed.
