So I happen to like MatPat/Film Theory's interpretation of DHMIS, which features the primary theme of mistrust of sponsorship for creative projects/how sponsorship can lead to advertising and compromise the original vision. I feel that, unlike his take on Salad Fingers, there is enough evidence to make that interpretation more than somewhat viable.
The creators of DHMIS apparently turned down a lot of sponsorship offers for their series. However, this trailer looks far more high-budget and includes three logos of supposed sponsors. Of note is the logo for "Conaco" - which is owned by Conan O'Brien of all things, wtf. I also don't like the looks of "Super Deluxe", which has a YouTube channel full of what looks like clickbaity garbage and vaguely surrealist nonsense.
If MatPat's interpretation was correct - although it may be totally wrong of course - this means that the creators have sold out and are total hypocrites.
So either my favorite theory is wholly incorrect, or the DHMIS team are no better than the people they criticized in their original series.
