UN Donald Trump pardons controversial Sherrif Joe Arpaio - "Hmm... how can I get Europe to hate me even more?"

"Arpaio was recently convicted of criminal contempt for ignoring a federal judge’s order to stop detaining people because he merely suspected them of being undocumented immigrants. Trump’s pardon is particularly unusual since Arpaio has not been sentenced yet. The move may prompt questions about how extensively Trump will use his pardon power, including whether he will do so on behalf of individuals caught up in the Russia investigation."

Arpaio is controversial for multiple reasons including election law violations in campaigning for sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona, failure to investigate sex crimes, misuse of funds, abuse of power, unlawful enforcement of immigration legislation, endorsement of conspiracy theories, and racial profiling. According to the Department of Justice "Arpaio oversaw the worst pattern of racial profiling in U.S. history". Coming shortly after Trump's controversial remarks following violence in Virginia, a UN statement on racism in America, and an ongoing investigation into the Russiagate scandal, this will be a lightning rod for his critics.

The Trump Train never stops...crashing and derailing into a group of liberals there to protest the unsafe Trump Train.

At this point approval ratings mean jack shit, when the POTUS doesn't give a fuck about your feelings lol

I don't even care what the sheriff has allegedly done, I'm just delighted to see the inevitable shit storm that is on its way.

Forget all the conservative/liberal shit for the time being, what pissed me off most about this asshole is that he was so obsessed with catching illegal immigrants that he was ignoring more pressing issues. So many sex crimes (rape, child molestation, etc) went uninvestigated because this guy was more concerned about illegal immigration. And say what you will about being "tough on crime", people shouldn't be living in a tent in 100+ heat and eating rotten meat just for being charged for selling pot. That goes way beyond "tough on crime". I don't care what your political views are, that's seriously extreme. (Especially when you consider he cared more about drug dealers than child rapists)

(Plus wasn't one of his "possed" later found out to be a registered sex offender?) So fuck this guy.

Arpaio was objectively bad at his job, made his county less safe, and violated the Constitution. There was no reason to pardon him other than to pander to racists and immigration hardliners (there's about a 98% crossover between those two groups anyway).

Shitty move for the country.

Reminder that Joe was just doing his job by keeping illegals outta America

This is some really good salt

Interesting how this broke on a Friday night and with a major hurricane bearing down on Texas.
I guess that was purposeful.

This is part of Trump's continued telegraphing to law enforcement: "I got your back." Which is echoed by his address to cops earlier this month, where he basically said you don't have to be very nice to criminals. He kept his word by pardoning this hard-ass.

Personally, I don't think he is condoning Ben with this action, but trying to de-paralyze law enforcement who don't want their sleepy town to become another Ferguson.
