It seems that the idolatry never went away. It just evolved. Instead of worshiping Moloch, they worship themselves at God's expense. When that was never the point of what God was trying to do; His plan was for people who remained loyal to Him to prosper under His protection, and to show that to the world, to be an example, so that people would turn to Him just as Ruth did. The Hebrews were supposed to be a humble example of how God's grace can transform a pack of yahoos into a prosperous, Godly nation. They weren't supposed to be racially elevated above other humans the way the Nazis elevated blonde, blue-eyed Aryan white people over Slavs.

To be fair, companies have been absurdly abusing the shit out of H1-B visas. The engineering company I worked for until recently pretty much completely stopped hiring US engineers out of college. Around 5% of our new hires were US citizens. There is zero justification for this. The US pumps out engineers at a very high rate. And it caused nothing but problems for us with language/cultural barriers, the very poor quality of education, and most importantly, their complete inability to get licensing and permits to work on customer sites.
