Is Pam Bondi the problem though? Not to say I think she’s qualified but I don’t think she’s the one fucking this all up. Trump ran on releasing the Epstein files, filled the DOJ with Epstein truthers and now they’re being expected to figure out what his next move is when the man is the most predictably unpredictable person in history.
Though the fact Trump is defending her rather than letting her take the fall (when MAGA seems intent on letting her take the heat here) is really interesting.

Let's really break this all down: Epstein offered powerful men the ability to abuse minors with impunity, then secretly documented it. They were targeted specifically because they have far too much to lose, and could then be successfully blackmailed in perpetuity.
What you're suggesting is all that blackmail, which was successful because it could cause significant damage for each implicated man, should all be simultaneously unleashed upon the world, causing a sociological Armageddon. I can foresee two main ways that plays out.
First, there's the "too much noise" outcome where so many people are implicated that the masses have to accept it in order to keep living their lives (which is what the masses truly value). Nothing substantial comes from it for 90%+ of the men exposed. If anything, it could impart the unintended implication that pedophilia is more normal than people believe, and that it's not something specific to low IQ retards, but proliferates among successful men.
Then, there's the alternative scenario where it completely disenfranchises a multitude of institutions in our nation as they're all exposed as housing child sex abusers. A complete collapse in the trustworthiness of the nation's leaders of industry leads to foreign competition overtaking them, and the country plunging into a brutal depression. That's not even getting into the amount of resources it'd take to convict even one of the ultra-rich, let alone all of them.
Personally, I'd still have the files released because if the only reason our nation is succeeding is because we lie about child molesters controlling the hegemonic power structures then we're not that great of a nation after all. It's still far more complex a decision than people are making it out to be.

Honestly at this point you are right, many people, myself included flip flopped on the guy for years even during the Biden administration, but the issue for me was that he almost immediately fucked everything up in his second term, the Pallantir shit and then the twin shocks of the Iran strikes and the refusal to release the Epstein files pretty much broke any semblance of doubt for traditional right wingers on the fence about Trump, anyone who still believes in the guy as a savior at this point probably cannot be convinced and it really is a tragedy because most in the country cannot conceive of a right-wing movement without Donny heading it, no future election is going to save the country

This is why this is so bizarre to me.
If I were on the list and running for office, I just wouldn't bring it up at all. I'd talk about illegals and all that, and just ignore the list entirely. But Trump did bring it up, it was one of his campaign promises.
This leads me to believe that some shit happened or some shit was found out that Trump didn't know about until he got in, and now he's flailing. To me the most likely logical explanation is that some people who Trump is very, very loyal to are on that list or involved in something similar and he cannot afford to let those facts out. Trump definitely has some type of blackmail on him, you have to be compromised to get that high in the world of politics and business, but I doubt it's about Epstein for the aforementioned reasons. Not to say he's not involved in some rings, they all are, but the only case I can draw a parallel to is the Belgian X Files and that was also a clusterfuck.
And I'm a conspiracy nut. I take the spice melange and see visions of the past, present, and future. I sit in a bathtub with wires coming out of my head, absorbing all knowledge, and genuinely I don't have any fucking clue what's up.

I don't think Trump knew he was deeply implicated in the Epstein case evidence, and just how much it included him. That might've been because the case didn't conclude until long after Trump left office. He (and MAGA) may not have known just how much the FBI had found, and it was only when Trump and his people took office that they realized the extent of the facts.
They could release a lot of it, as they already have, but there has to be a point where Trump is too deeply involved. For example, if some or many of the victims were from/through Mar-a-Lago or Trump's pageants, then there's no simple or easy way to release information about the trafficking case while leaving out how the children were trafficked. They could claim that some victims were from elsewhere, but there would be an inconsistency if there were over a thousand victims, yet many were not accounted for in the released files.
It may have been as simple as Trump thought he was in the clear, realized he was fucked, and now is struggling to get out. His people are retarded and malicious, too, and there's no simple option forward. That's just my

Trump is a bullshitter. All he cared about at the time was getting elected. How many promises has he made that he never seriously intended to follow up on? He badly miscalculated on how important this was to his base. He assumed his base would just accept that there is no such thing as the Epstein files and we can just move on. It ties back to him bragging about shooting someone on 5th Avenue and his base wouldn’t care. Except some draw the line at kid diddling. The fact he seems surprised by this is even more evidence he’s involved. He just doesn’t think touching kids is a big deal.
