Jesus Fucking Christ. The never ending narcissism and ego of this man truly knows no bounds, does it.
Turns out the multiple concussions you get from being in an active warzone can fuck with your head and screw you up. It's why so many Vietnam Vets wound up on the street doing drugs.

I remember when these same people mocked John Kerry’s Purple Hearts (plural) because, in their opinion, he wasn’t injured enough in Vietnam to earn them. I guess an ear graze that doesn’t even leave a scar is enough now as long as the injured party is an authoritarian cult leader who runs for President as a Republican.

Just a reminder Trump actively dismissed John McCain and discredit him as a war hero because he got captured.
Ignored the fact the man was tortured and had suffered life altering injuries during his stint in Vietnam.

Don't forget that McCain had a chance for release because his dad became commander of the Vietnam theater and he REFUSED unless the others were released too. He was severely fucked up from his injuries and that led to more torture/interrogation.
I have no love for his politics but McCain is a damned hero. Trump doesn't understand loyalty, especially to those of lower station (be it position of power, social status, whatever).
After conservatives didn't dump Trump after that, I knew there was no patriotism left in their party.

Traditional conservatives (some of whom are in the cult, some not) deify Ronald Reagan, but the guy was an actor who had increasingly serious Alzheimer's disease through both of his terms. He did serve in the military, but was a list-checker like Vance. I think Gerald Ford was the last President who actually saw combat -- which is fine, to be honest, but one grows weary of seeing Trump credited with shedding blood for his country when he says military veterans are suckers and losers and called fucking hookers his personal Vietnam.

If I recall, Bush I was shot down but rescued. Bush II was a weekend warrior but still a pilot, and I think that kind of refutes testaments to his stupidity.
To be honest, I respect service but recognize that service can mean things other than military, and I'd rather have civilians in charge because the military repatterns your brain in ways that are incomprehensible to most people.
I think working for a bank, hedge fund, or being a billionaire should disqualify you, though. Basically non-human at that point.

Yeah, whether you like his politics or not, McCain is worthy of respect and has balls of fucking steel. He might've been a warmongerer but at least he served in a war and willingly kept himself in the worst possible position for his fellow soldiers benefit.
