What is a doll?
At its barest root, a doll is just a facsimile of something to serve a purpose. A mannequin is a facsimile of a human for the purpose of displaying clothes. A baby doll is a facsimile of a baby for little girls to play with. An anime doll is a facsimile of a simulacrum of a human for adult men to play with, et cetera. Dolls have been made out of every substance known to man, from wood to soap to stone to porcelain and even a human skeleton wrapped in felt. But now, in the digital age, dolls need not even have a physical form. You can spin up a Dollie instance immediately and play out whatever fantasy you wish. And so people do in their millions.

People use these modern dolls to not just train for expected future behavior, IE mothering, but they play out scenarios that are a simulation of things that have never happened and never will. Humans are basically built to run simulations. When you walk around a map in a video game, the same parts of your brain are activating as if you were navigating a real space. If you hold a tool, your brain functionally treats it as an extension of your own self. And when you act out a fantasy with dolls, your brain, on some level, treats that simulation as reality. You are programming the self for scenarios that do not exist.

This shit is why I don't like academic waffling. I have a doll of Richard Stallman, that I'm now using to play pretend deep conversation with your doll - some drawn sped from a piece of fiction I don't care about. Because, when you get down to it, an avatar is a fascimile of me for the purposes of posting on the Farms. Now, if you'll excuse me, time to write 500 more paragraphs about absolutely nothing.

Why does this matter?
When extremely deluded, retarded, or mentally unwell people have a lot of animating energy in their minds, and they regress to this childlike doll-play, their own illness is imprinted upon the Dollie simulacrum. From a hypersaccharine sense of childlike closeness with fake, super distant people in the form of two pipos hugging with the word "fren" , to depicting your favorite politician as a stern, handsome anime character fighting a difficult battle against the forces of evil with AI studio Ghibli crap. None of it's real, but the act of making it, doing the simulation, playing with the doll, reinforces this in the brain as reality. These people are completely retarded, completely insane, and they lack the self awareness to even realize that they're making themselves more insane and retarded.

If we're built to run simulations like you said earlier, why is regressing to doll-play only reserved for the retarded and the mentally unwell? People like playing pretend, from young to old, unless you're some kind of autistic robot. It's only a problem when you're too absorbed in it and are actively avoiding reality. I think your Freudian hyper-seethe description of people posting a silly image of two characters on the Internet speaks more about you than them. The second example is propaganda, that's been around since time immemorial. It's stupid, but way easier to explain without all this word salad.
