I was using Forums long before Reddit was a popular platform and I could never understand it.

People who've never had to make the decision to euthanize a pet - one of the hardest decisions you'll ever have to make, and one you'll likely need to make many, many times throughout your life - don't understand what it's like. They've never spent thousands of dollars, months of fending off the grim reaper, and numerous sleepless nights growing increasingly aware that you're about to acquire some deep emotional scars.

It's easy to say "I'd do anything to keep my pet alive" as a purely hypothetical scenario, but reality is that at a certain point there's nothing anyone can do. Mortality is as mortality does. Fighting it just makes you exhausted and broke.

Surprisingly I've never euthanized any of my pets they tended to thankfully either be pretty healthy or spry-ish till they just fucking ended up dying from surprise horrifying seizure or something. Last one happened when I was asleep and I never forgave myself for not being awake with the rest of my family when it happened. Personally I think caring for a sick dog till it goes is better than Euthanasia, though. There's people who euthanize pets at like the drop of a hat over either legal issues or manageable health issues and I can't fucking understand that mindset.
