Pedophiles, baby monkey torturers, mass murderers, Islamic child stabbing terrorists, these are a few of the catagories of people widely considered acceptable targets of what looks like sadism, usually under retaliatory justifications. Is this, as the people fantasizing or carrying out the retaliation, an expression of sadism? Is it okay because the target is so reprehensible and deserving that we all just agree that it's okay and leave it at that? I often feel it too and become filled with hate wanting to hurt these people I've only heard about. I hear about arrests or sentences, or see videos of some Africans carrying out a much more direct and brutal form of justice on these classes of people and think "Great, love to see it". I feel like while righteous it is also deeply unhealthy on some emotional/mental/spiritual level. Am I just being a faggot? Discuss.

Criminals like that should be killed, not used to feed the public's sick urges.
Criminals like that have historically been issued what I would call sadistic punishment as far back as Ancient Greek times if not further, then justified as a way of control via warning the public, though I have no doubt there was an element of catharsis or entertainment for said public even then as they watched the public humiliation and the punishment/execution.

They should be fairly tried and then imprisoned for a just length of time determined by the court. While incarcerated they should be treated decently like any other prisoner.

It often seems like the people who have a sadistic desire to make others be tortured for their crimes are guilty themselves.

You have a point. Violence is unhealthy for the soul. There's a reason you feel a sense of deep revulsion when watching real gore (beyond the surface-level "gross" imagery.)

Bad people deserve retribution for their bad actions, obviously, but there's definitely a masturbatory, self-righteous aspect to it sometimes. I'm reminded of those pedo hunters on YouTube who get away with doing anything they want to someone because they're a child predator. I obviously don't feel any sympathy for pedophiles, but I think some of this content is a thinly-veiled way for sadists to feel comfortable, even justified in watching somebody be tortured.

Despite what most people will admit, they would happily watch, or even participate in, mob violence if they felt justified enough. At the very least people are very okay with the idea of justified violence/sadism happening somewhere else with a layer of separation.

When the enemy is ontologically evil there is simply no limit on what evil can be done to them.

"The punishment must fit the crime" is longstanding legal precedent. Retribution becomes sadism when it is wildy disproportionate.

Speak for yourself.

I believe in justice combined with mercy and will never condone or participate in mob violence. This is why civilized peoples have a legal system, to prevent sadistic psychopaths, the ignorant and just plain stupid from carrying out their own "justice".

Sadism is never acceptable, it does not lead to justice but to satisfy resentful thoughts
And often they are as guilty of the same crimes as those they want to bind, torture and kill.

Well that's why I said most people not all. Regardless, legal systems alone don't prevent violence or psychopaths, as South America proves so well. Further still the North American legal systems are notorious for rape and abuse committed by the guards and prisoners alike. Where ever power exists there will be sadistic psychopaths who will seek to abuse it. I don't think there is a single nation or peoples on this earth that has not wield extreme wanton violence against another when deemed justified and necessary.

The laws here are very, VERY lax. In my country you can't get locked up for over 30 years. Murderers and rapists often get away scott free in less then a decade, and they'll re-offend because they know they'll be free in a few years

Sure, ideally they'd be locked up for a decade, but unfortunately that doesn't happen. I'm also not gonna be a hypocrite and say that in this scenario i'd be happy if they got arrested. If someone raped a loved one, it would be me in jail, because i'd absolutely put a bullet on their heads. I'm only human after all

It's a complicated matter

I feel like a solid 99.99% of the people who say chomos and mass killers should be lynched or tortured to death are not doing so because they themselves also guilty of the same crimes, it's far more likely they just... hate chomos and mass killers, or are/know people who were harmed by those kinds of people and have a personal stake in the subject.

Overcompensating on a topic with passion to cover your own ass IS a real thing that happens, but those people are outliers taking advantage of normal people's feelings specifically as a form of camouflage.

I have no idea where you're getting the idea that it's "often" the case where it's just cover, there are way more people who think rapists should be lynched than there are rapists (outside of india).

I feel the opposite. I know if I did that I would feel pretty great until I might start hearing their cries of terror, their fading gasps for air, their bones breaking. The sight of their bloody, swollen disfigured faces forever etched into my eyes. That would be terribly traumatic even if I had no sympathy at all for the bastard. It would surely haunt me every time I close my eyes at night. And that's why I prefer making others kill people I'll never meet! No sounds, no sights, no fuss for me!:gunt:🍻
