Been debating whether to weigh in on this one. I see a lot of ignorant and cynical hot takes flying around here-- and most of it is coming from millennials and younger.

Seems like it's always the ones who weren't even there who have the loudest opinions on what the past was like.

The '80s were some of the greatest times I ever had, and I'm not alone. Things were genuinely happy.

I'm gonna cut it short here. I don't love ranting about this subject. To many of those of us who remember those years, it really is a painful thing to think back to those amazing times, knowing we'll never escape back there from Current Year. Ironically enough, this all feels like a Back To The Future timeline gone mad.

Early 80's, definitely. Best time of my life. All my innocence intact, bestest of friends, coolest of toys, and my bulging eyes greet the niche nerd hobbies I'd eventually grow into.

And no internet to ruin it all.

I was born in the 80's so i don't remember much of it other than brown wood, brown wood everywhere and having my tiny mind blown by Spy vs Spy, R-type and Fantasy Zone (though one or two of them may have been 90's?)

80's had the best action and metal as well. It was a proper man's decade.

I think I miss how excited everyone would get at new stuff in the 70s and 80s.

Apple IIe computer? For your home? Woah.

Cordless phones? You can sit right next to the base to talk, and no cord will tangle on your arm or get caught on your cup, causing it to spill!

Soft chewy cookies right from the bag that you bought at the grocery? Just like homemade!

Turning the lights on and off just by clapping? Magic!

By the 90s there was just SO much stuff, and all that stuff had a cartoon character on it. Blech.

The 80's ended half a decade before I was born. That said, I would have liked to have met President Reagan, I've heard he really was quite charming in private conversation.

The 80s were a weird time to say the least. I understand they were great in America, but that's not really true everywhere. The social changes that occurred in the 80s, the governmental changes, social unrest, and the collapse of the Union, to name a few.

I don't with to go back to that time, it's not the 80s I miss, it's being that young I miss. I was too young to really understand what was going on around me.

I'm good and ready whenever 90's-00's nostalgia decides to kick in. I feel like people have been ragging on 80's nostalgia since the mid-late 00's.

[Previous Decade] was better than [Current Decade] because in [Previous Decade] I was more attractive, my penis worked better, and my youthful dreams and optimism hadn't been crushed into the dirt yet.
I know you're just trolling, but I wholeheartedly agree.
