I would take the bus if it actually had a modern digitalised app for the whole nation but the governments of every municipality will never do that because that would be too convenient

I always think of Dee on the bus from it's always sunny when I think of taking a bus.
Buses like most public transport are fine when empty but they get even shittier than other forms the more crowded they get.
Buses are also one of those public transport options that only works out well if the stops are convenient. If I want to go to the mall, I can drive there in 10-15 minutes. That alone would be the time it'd take me to walk to a bus stop for a bus trip that would be even longer.
In my younger days I did night buses in South America, and chicken buses in Central America. Thank god I would never have to use them again if I was travelling in those parts of the world. I once gave advice to a friend about Central America. "Pay the extra for the flight." She ignored me, got annoyed at me suggesting they spend more money and then the low light of her trip involved spending a night in a Belize city bus station after missing a connecting bus.
