No. Dennis Miller did a caricature of it when he appeared on Bill O'Reilly. It is all over Amadeus and Dangerous Liasons.

Id probably describe it as a courteous bow. I have looked around a bit but it seems to not have a specific word to describe it so you really just need to describe it or find a good descriptive adjective to add. I know the pain of describing gestures and poses from a writing standpoint, you have my sympathy.

I always thought it was an Islamic way to say thanks, three circles- mind, mouth and heart.

We call it genuflecting, not a specific word for it in standard English I don't think.
Yes my dialect does use the root for kneeling for a thing you do with your fingers in an entirely unrelated context, deal with it, poshcunts.
