All the old people I meet now are more to the left than many millennials and zoomers and constantly cry about Trump being a fascist meanie who said rude things on twitter.

I miss the days when the elderly would say based things at the dinner table that I now only ever see online. Now most of the elderly I know pretend that rape gangs are made up, support sending jobs overseas and mass importing jeets, and romanticize the 60s all while also complaining about their real estate taking a 4% drop from all time highs. The retirees today fucking suck. Sure gramps may have been uncouth at thanksgiving but at least he cared about America’s future and didn’t care what people thought about him. The current crop of elderly are the opposite prioritizing what people think of them over them even if it comes at the expense of their descendants. Of course this isn’t true of all of them but it is a generalization that is true of many ex hippies that ended up coasting through life (not applicable to the working class of that generation which got the short end of the stick).

I’ve found because I know a lot of retirees… that they usually do not and are surviving on pensions and social security. The former no longer exist and the latter is doomed. They don’t care though because they’ll be dead by then.

Unfortunately I mostly deal with ex hippies that are childless. They literally have nothing saved up and live on pensions, their ex’s pensions, and social security despite having more paper wealth due to owning real estate than the working class supporting them. I unironically want to see them face the consequences of their actions at least once in their lives. They’ve coasted on working class boomers, their parents, and now are coasting on my dime while voting to screw me over and larping like it’s the 60s. And they own a large house which they refuse to sell because they can coast on social security. And they can’t work basic technology while bitching about gas prices which in my area are still way lower than when Biden was president. I hate boomers that were hippies with every fiber of my soul and I wish they got felted.

No, but I’m surrounded by shit lib boomers that moved to the suburbs that are retirees with no kids. They think Trump and Putin are best friends that stole the presidency from Hillary in 2016 and from Harris in 2024. Part of it is definitely the good times created post WW2. But the ex-Hippie thing is a big factor too. They have it engrained into their head they're the pretty carefree youth fighting the evil empire. Trump is bad orange man and they just wanna live and let live and give peace a chance.

The world has moved on from the cold war and the high trust prosperity created by their parents which they felt entitled to give away. Everyone tends to get stuck in the mindset of their youth.
