I remember one where they were comparing some US special forces (Green Berets I think) to British Commandos. And they wound up comparing the ballistic knife (for the Brits) and the entrenching tool (foldable shovel) for the US.

So they shot the dummy from like 20 feet with the ballistic knife. And for comparison they just walked up and brained it with the spade. And they were like "oh look the spade did a lot more damge!! Omg!"

Like no shit you dumb fucks, that's a completely different scenario. Anyway I don't have a dog in the fight, but I bailed there because of how retarded it was.

Yeah, I'm not really attached to any particular warrior set or whatever, I mean you're going to have good and incompetent people in any group. But when your whole show is supposed to be based around (somewhat) scientifically comparing typical representatives and this is one of your baseline comparisons? I mean you might as well have call in voting at this point.

I'm pretty sure I saw it in some hotel room somewhere, where my choices were limited. I was assuming it was akin to Mythbusters or something (which isn't exactly Karl Popper levels of soyence, but they at least make an effort). I probably should've lowered my expectations.

The end result is I probably watched another episode of Bar Rescue instead. Now THERE'S a show with some fucking integrity!

I remember watching it as a fun show. Looking back it was pretty stupid and the "experts" were dude bros who learned everything about history from common knowledge (AKA Bullshit).

It was slop before we used that term. Basically if you know anything about arms/armor or actual history you'll laugh your ass off. If you don't it's something to watch and not really think about.

Yes it was fun to watch at the time but the final comparison scenarios were not done correctly as it was always one on one and not taking into account how the results would be if an entire army of one culture was fighting another.
