I’ve forgot most things about my life, especially childhood. I don’t know if this is normal but I feel it’s not. One of my friends says that having an awful memory of childhood is a symptom of childhood depression, which keeps me up at night. Maybe I have some type of memory disorder, idk.

My memories go back quite far, I even have a few memories age 2 or even 1. My father's job had us moving every few years, often to places where there is no mistaking where and therefore when something happened. When we finally settled in a place for more than the usual time is when I have serious trouble remembering whether something happened when I was 10, 13, or 16 because everything blurs together because there's no reference for anything and the place we lived in was boring as fuck. There's no mistaking when part of the memory involves bundling up for -60 degree weather, a beach within walking distance of your school, or a foreign country.

It makes me wonder if people actually remember a lot further back than they think, but given most people rarely move very far often or have any other event to give them a frame of reference, things tend to blur for them.

No.

most of it
I love sitting around and reliving all my memories. there are so many good ones to choose from.

I like being completely submerged in nostalgia

I remember less than most people and the memories I do have feel overly melancholic. Even experiences that were happy at the time are painful now because of the things that have happened since then. They have this betrayed innocence vibe. I like nostalgia that's not personal - other people's old photos and memories. Not when it involves me. I'm not trying to remember more and can't imagine writing a memoir or something. It's weird. Probably has more to do with one's personality than just memory.

I remember bits and pieces, mostly positive and sweet stuff, like moments of elation, from about age 3 onward. It's nice to have that recollection, I still listen to the same music a lot, for example. A lot of my memories feel like they're partially defined by what music I was listening to around the time.

The world used to be totally rose tinted for me back then and I feel inspired to work and live a good life so that I can bring that feeling back sometimes.

Scattered in my younger years up to 8. One tends to remember mostly memories once accesses so my memory is a bit selective through non use essentially.

Your memories are there and if someone reminds of something that happened you can usually remember; they are as a rule buried there but you can’t find them until directed or guided.

Oh shit; it’s Valentine’s Day isn’t it?! I just remembered!!

Honestly it’s pretty depressing how many unique memories I’ve forgotten from my middle to high school years that I remember thinking “man, this is crazy. Never forget this!” Sure, you remember a few here or there when you’re in a conversation that sparks them, but you can’t help but feel you’re getting bits and pieces when there’s a lot more you know are down there.

Always. Write. Memories. Down.
I made the mistake of not doing so whenever my great grandfather told me the stories of when he was in WW2, and how he told them in such exquisite detail and frequency. I eventually got tired of hearing them and began brushing it off. It wasn’t until his Alzheimer’s was kicking into overdrive and he was stealing silverware at the old folks home thinking it was a way to make money during the Great Depression and him screaming at us to stay away from the windows because there were snipers watching that I new I or any future generations would ever hear those stories the way he told him. It’s one thing recounting the bits and pieces you remember someone telling you, but it’s a whole ‘nother level hearing a story someone actually experienced down to all the detail and way they tell it.

I don't believe it is a symptom of childhood depression. I remember most of my childhood very vividly, and I was miserable for much of it. I am starting to find I can't remember the names of the kids I knew back then as well, but I can recall events very quickly and with clarity.
