Do you miss Halo 3?

Halo 2 was better, but I do miss fucking around in single player mode games finding glitches and exploits that were whispered about on 240p youtube videos. Nowadays that shit doesn't feel as special because there's so many bugs in games when they come out and all the good shit gets patched to oblivion right when I'm actually having fun. Every crevice in old maps made me wonder what the developer's intention was and if there were any secrets or shit that I could find, but I barely care anymore as moden game design is clutter the screen and have the character phase through the excess. No gamer child, you don't get fun secrets as all the textures were scribbled quickly by an indian intern that helped us make the game sooner (2 year delay) and cheaper ($90 USD).

I miss it. They hype with the commercials, watching the midnight launch on G4, taping said midnight launch on TiVo and rewatching it. Playing co-op with my brothers. I miss it all.

I've come to accept that games of that era were not core to our experiences. The early internet was responsible and if we never had halo, wow, cod, etc. we would still hold some random game up on a pedestal to reminisce because it's easier to quantify than a particular adolescent timeframe of the internet.
