I eat the first cookie and the last cookie. The first one because otherwise everyone just stands around waiting for someone to be the first. Then I eat the last because no one wants it for some reason. Also I eat the last cookie because some passive person is always eyeing it up but they don't want to take it and are waiting for everyone to leave so they can have it and lick the plate I guess. So I grab the last cookie and after I've touched it I ask "anyone want the last cookie?". No one speaks up so I eat it. The moral of the story is seize what you desire or I'll eat it

Personally I'd snag that cookie if everyone else has had at least 1 cookie and the room has the energy of what SNU described. Ima give people like a wink, like "do you want that cookie?" and if nobody gives me a really clear stare like "yeah man, I want that cookie, like I NEED that cookie" then its mine.

There are exceptions for exceptional cookies which we know will mysteriously disappear, how that happens we'll never know.
