So I quit drugs about 6 years ago and ever since I keep obsessing over food. It feels psychotic. I have dreams about eating food, and wake up disappointed.

Is this a me thing, or do other recovering addicts feel this shit?

I hope you know I hate your guts. When the inevitable truck runs you over, I hope it does a k turn.

I have "work dreams" where I'm sent by Chef to retrieve an item from the other end of the line, and have many side quests, but never make it to my goal. Concerning addiction dreams though, I have many dreams in a similar vein where I am seeking out a drink and never succeed in getting one. I've been told that they go away over time, but they haven't after three years.

Does this count? Dream I had yesterday.

The setting is not completely clear in my mind, but I am travelling in a coach with a number of people, and we need to crash in some house for the night. Seems like this is a situation where we are fleeing from something or someone.

Anyway, once in the house, I am alerted by some woman that some of the food we brought in the fridge is rotting.

I go and have a look, and discover that everything is indeed starting to get covered in mold. I try to remove the moldy parts until I realize everything is soaking wet. Then I notice the woman is actually holding some kind of garden hose and drenching the fridge in water from the top shelf.

I try to explain to her that she should stop because it's probably causing the mold, but she refuses. I ask why she's doing it and get some non answer. Somehow, everybody just take her side and tell me to let her do what she want and it's not my problem.

Not really the end of the dream, but the end of food related things as far as I can remember. Later on, a car turned into a suitcase, and I took a magical bus with the number 9.

Were you food insecure while you were in active addiction? I know a lot of us were; that's why food is so readily available in rehab, but it's also why it's important to clean your room every day, because food hoarding is very common.
