I have to mask at my job, but it makes sense as a "Standard precaution" similar to wearing gloves. Honestly, it helps with the smell because a lot of medical problems people call 911 over are fucking disgusting smelling. A little peppermint oil on the inside of the mask and all you can smell is candy-canes, no fecal or gangrene or hoarder stink is getting through that.

I wear one in crowded places because I don’t feel like getting it. Plenty of people in my area are still getting it including my housemate who just got it for the second time and gets more weak and retarded with every infection. It takes a couple of seconds to put on and take off and it entertains me how upset some people on the internet get over my personal choices.

No I'm an EMT, or an "Emergency Medical Technician". If someone calls 911 for a welfare check and you walk into Ronnie Ralph's crack shack with his corpse melting into a couch, you'd want something to mask the smell as well.

I mean, post viral illness isn’t a guaranteed thing right (thank god) it’s just a crap shoot. I just figure, personally, that the cost-benefit analysis of putting on a mask is worth it, because it’s just so low effort and I don’t give a shit what people around me think when I’m wearing one, and I don’t feel like finding out if I’m ever on the losing end of that bet when it’s so easy to just know I won’t be, y’know. To answer your question, we’ve both gotten a vaccine, but he’s the only one who has gotten sick. I stopped getting boosters a while back though because I’m not a fan, not sure about him.

He treated me like an insane person because I didn't want the vaccine, when it was already apparent it did jack shit beyond mitigating some of the worse symptoms. I just feel more vindicated as time goes on.

Sorry to hear about your brother. I get weird reactions from people who assume that I’m on “their side” because I wear a mask but then reveal that I don’t take the vaccine so I definitely understand how you feel. I think that it can definitely be appropriate for some people (maybe idk I haven’t read about it since it became irrelevant for me) like elderly and immunocompromised people, but ever since the government fumbled the “flatten the curve” bag they are probably obsolete for healthy people unless some weird super bug randomly pops up

I still see the odd person wearing them here and there but it's only the most geriatric of people. You also can't really tell if it's for COVID or if people just started wearing them because they're sick like Japanese do. Or if they're just burning through their stockpile. I haven't met any COVIDIAN still doing directly doing this.
