Man that new Snow White movie looks awful

The trailer looks like one of those fake AI slop trailers.

Gal Gadot still can not act to save her life, she even looks like she is just there for the paycheck in the poster.

The dwarves all look terrible, thanks to a man's very small and fragile ego making Disney avoid casting people of the appropriate height.

All live action film remakes deserve to die, I have yet to see a single film remake (for the Disney animated films) that justifies its existence.

The more I hear about this obnoxious little shitgremlin, the more I hate him. Dwarfs are magical fairy tale creatures but that ugly, walking subhuman makes it entirely about him. Fuck this nasty "person".

20+ years of CGI shit storms makes me appreciate all the hard work that went into Howard the Duck which actually has some cool sfx and also how if you pause it right you can see Lea Thompson's pussy

Was listening to the radio today and the some host was going off that the trailer looked so good and that it would make $100 million dollars. Being in the top 10 movies of all time.

The cringe was at an all time high.

The reason live action remakes exist is for a few reasons:

- Nostalgia: Gets older people to "relive" their childhood and introduce it to kids of their own. It also can be an attempt at instilling nostalgia into younger people to milk them off the IP

- IP Power: Kind of overlaps with the first point, but it already has a built-in audience and if its a household name, could get people to see since newer IPs are risky

- Anti-Animation Sentiment: This is a kind of specific point but it definitely appeals to normies who dismiss animation as a children's medium and gives the appearance of this being more "adult" than the original animation.
 
There's also a thing where lots of younger people today don't watch and have an aversion to watching old films/television. They didn't grow up in a world where watching old stuff was a normal part of media consumption and whatever way the online stuff has shaped them, they always want something new.

I had someone telling me just last week how disappointed she was that she couldn't get her 15-year-old son to watch Die Hard.

I've run into a few of these types. There was a girl at my work who had never seen a black and white movie.

What are the actual odds of Disney acknowledging that they used to have a robust original live action movie department?

The only ones I see them regularly acknowledge are Mary Poppins and Pirates of the Caribbean.

It is also a technology thing. It is a chance for studios to flex their CGI typically. Not the case for all, but it is pretty obvious for films such as Transformers or any of the Disney remakes, more specifically Lion King. The idea that the cartoon is now real really is a selling point.
