With the way her fist is, her arm should look like a squeezed towel to hold it at that angle. The palm should be facing up, not the knuckles. Someone just royally messed up on the base sketch and no one corrected it.

Every hit of yesteryear is being considered for a reboot, with Finding Nemo and The Incredibles regarded as particularly strong candidates for new titles. Morris aims to make three movies every two years—historically it’s been closer to one a year—with every other title a sequel or spinoff and the rest standalone concepts or potential seeds for new franchises.

I could also see them just shutting it down or merging it with Walt Disney Animation Studios. Both studios pump out the same garbage anyways so there's really no reason to keep them separate.

While possible, the more likely answer is that it's just a different model/setup. This was original going to be a show, so they wouldn't be using the same setup as they would for a film. The models would be easier to animate to make things faster and cheaper, so now it looks like this.
