There used to be lots of really great, dark kids’ movies, like “Something Wicked This Way Comes” and “The Dark Crystal.” I don’t think we should shy away from these dark elements, because they’re a part of this world as much as light elements are, and we want to equip children with the tools that they’ll need in life.
If that's the case, Domee, please tell us why, when given the chance to make your own feature film, you decided to make one that has absolutely NONE OF THOSE?!
Sorry for the double post, but I've even seen the creator of Rescue Rangers trying to white knight for this movie.
But you see, there is a huge difference between taking established characters and thrusting them into new roles and scenarios and....whatever the hell this movie's trying to do.
Ahhhhh, the ol' "Y-Y-YOU'RE JUST A BUNCH OF BIG WHINY MANBABIES AFRAID OF CHAAAAAAAANGE" rigmarole. Worked so well for Fembusters 2016 and Disney Star Wars, didn't it Tad?
But you see, there is a huge difference between taking established characters and thrusting them into new roles and scenarios and....whatever the hell this movie's trying to do.
That is a massive misinterpretation of the problem people have with this movie, and it’s depressing to hear the creator of the show say so, no matter the reason.
How about we don't get Drawn together back? I found more entertainment in the creators getting buttmad at their fans and SP when their show got canned, than any episode they've put out.
It is when you're trying to normalize pedophilia exploring child sexuality. Which, if you haven't been paying attention, is exactly what TPTB/journoscum are trying to do.
I'm going to sound like such an old fart. Fuck it. I don't care.
What the hell happened to children's media being innocent? Even the Disney Renaissance films were subtle whenever they made adult jokes. It was shit you'd giggle at once you got older because it wasn't blatant at the time. Kids films used to be wholesome, plenty of gentle moments between the conflict. WHY does children's media have to explore sexuality now? Kids have their whole life to be bitter horny adults. Give them some Beatrix Potter or some shit. Enough with this thinly veiled fetish shit.
Eh, no, the dates don't line up. I think you are confusing the work Auguste and Louis Lumiere where doing in pioneering cinematography, NOT animation.
If you want me to be pedantic about it, the first crude attempt at "animation" that we know of consisted in projecting drawing into a wall with a devise called "The Magic Lantern" that used glass panels that were moved by strings. This was done by Athonasius Kircher in 1640.
In 1824 the British physicist Peter Mark Roget described the phenomenon of "Persistence of Vision" which is what allows a fast sequences of images to be seen as fluid motion by the human eye. It was this principle that led to the creation of all sort of devises that used this principle to create the illusion of movement (The Thaumatrope, the Phenakistoscope, the Zoetrope, and the Praxinoscope)
What is canonically considered the first filmed animation was "Humorous Phases of Funny Faces" in 1906 done by James Stuart Blackton and Thomas Edison. That's is two years ahead of your so called pioneering French animator's "Fantasmagorie" ( 1908 ).
As for Disney not pioneering shit:
Steam Boat Willie (1928 ) - First cartoon with synchronized sound.
The Skeleton Dance (1929) - First cartoon with a coordinated musical score.
Flowers and Trees (1932) - First full color cartoon.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) - First fully animated feature-length film.
Which is why it is so exasperating to see Disney being such an unoriginal and derivative media corp now that cannot even recreate the hand draw animation that they did in the 80s and 90s for TV and have to resort to such cheap tricks as using 3D models with a toon shader on top.
Do some research before spouting ignorant pulled-out-of-your-ass opinions again, faggot.

Y'know, maybe the real reason why it's not getting a theatrical release is because shots like this would be absolutely fucking horrifying 30 feet tall.
