Boy oh boy. Captain Marvel was an aright movie, but not only does this tard think she will fill the hole left by Iron Man leaving, but that she will fill the shoes of Captain America, Hulk etc. Gotta be honest, after the first movie I was about done with Captain Marvel. I loved the 90's nostalgia in it, but the space shit looked like it would get boring real fucking quick. I think we seen the best that the MCU has to offer and I'm okay with that.

Theoretically she can because they gave her ALL THE POWERS EVER. They've now essentially made their own Superman not a Wonder Woman.
You know what they should have done instead, if they wanted STRONK FEMALE WARRIOR they probably should have had her be someone else. Like they have her be a pilot, so why not go full Iron Man Tetsuo and have her merge with the metal of her vehicle and have her be some body horror cyborg. Like that would have made for an interesting character. Spend like 40 minutes of the movie of her being a deformed hideous looking mess before finally mastering her powers and trying to put metal absorbtion and body reconfiguration to practical use. Have it be kind of like a human transformer.

It'll be interesting to see if Disney learned anything from the Star Wars trashfire if Carol crashes and burns and whether they'll repeat NuWars mistake of trying to force people to like her like they're doing with Rey or if they'll do the smart thing and switch gears to bringing in the X-Men and making them the face of the MCU.

Eh, I think knowing mutants eventually do get gene-therapy’d out of existence and that the man with the dream not only kills his own family but winds up buried in a random set of woods does kind of deflate the drama in any prequel they could make focusing on mutant equality or Xavier.

Don’t get me wrong, they can make movies about other stories featuring the characters, like Deadpool or the Deadpool that comes after that, but making another prequel that focuses on the main story would be like making a Star Wars prequel starring characters nobody’s ever heard of going on a mission that we already know the outcome of because of throwaway dialogue in A New Hope: totally pointless and boring.

He is probably a hack, but he failed to adapt it this time for same reason he failed the last time: massive studio interference. The first time it was Fox executives making him sideline the Dark Phoenix story for the mutant cure story because Dark Phoenix was too dark for the audience, and the second time right around the time they started filming Fox told them "hey yeah, we're going to get bought by Disney, so that two-parter we promised you needs to be a single movie, STAT."
What is it about Fox that whenever they hit movie 3 in a pseudo-trilogy they get all interventionist and inevitably kill the golden goose?

You know, even with Disney-Fox not sabotaging this movie, would this actually been good? I mean, the Dark Pheonix character has always been bullshit even by X-men standards.

Honestly I always felt that dark pheonix should be like the Centaurian slug in star trek. Have the dark powers be a separate space entity with it's own personality. Maybe make DP be a soul of an alien girl from another civilization ripped from her body because her civilization was trying to stop galactus or something so they made DP a super telekenetic soilder who couldn't save her planet and in the process blew up her own body and flung her spirit charged with telekinetic energy across the universe. Being that this has never happened before with becoming concious but disembodied and earth will now have zero contact with this civilization since it's gone, the dark pheonix spirit latches onto jean at a young age because psychic energies attract like a magnet or some shit. Since this grown ass alien psychic spirit was like Rei Ayanami'd in a lab it fucking sends jean into ultra destructive fits. Phoenix Spirit doesn't know whats fucking going on either because having your fucking soul ripped from your body and being flung across space only to be absorbed by a weird girl with similar powers wasn't covered in basic training either.
So this sets up Dark Pheonix as being a whole separate character living in jean which would tie into why Charles would oppress it. He doesn't know what the fuck it is, nobody does. At that point you can have the spirit begin to break out and posses Jean for short amounts of time. Maybe have Jean have weird dreams of an alien planet and show the memories of the alien girl who was trying to do something similar to jean in her own world. Eventually that could lead to a conclusion that the girls share something in common and that essentially Jean's been with this thing her entire life but now they know what it is and that it's another person and not a deus ex machina.

X-men movies don't need to be sabotaged. They're all terrible to begin with. No one gives a shit about captain marvel.
Can the super hero era of movies just die already. They've been cringe since Blade, Batman, Daredevil and the first X-men movies and Fantastic 4. spiderman being the only good one because it's stupid in a hilarious way.
DC tries way too hard to be edgy and Marvel movies look like belong on Nickelodeon a perfect example being Thor. I don't know why but the CG is poor and jokes are ICarly tier humor.
I just want the monster movie era again.

Honestly, X-Men movies have been extremely meh since X2 (Logan is probably the exception, though I don't feel a huge urge to see that either). Also no one edits existing plans because they might be bought out, remember there was a bidding war between Comcast/Disney around the time the movie was being finalized, it would have been too late for anyone to significantly change things.
I just don't get what possessed him and Fox to try and re-adapt a storyline that already failed and almost tanked the film series. It's probably for the best though, like I said, things were very meh for a long time now.

Captain Marvel was always going to make a ton of money. It’s a Marvel film in between the two biggest Avengers movies. They could have re-released Howard the Duck and it would have sold.
Meanwhile, Dark Phoenix is another instalment in a tired and confused franchise, a remake of a bad film, this time with less talented actors. Furthermore, it was sequel to another lacklustre movie. The X-franchise has low stakes, because we know they can reset continuity or just ignore it.
Then you have the changed climate. When the first X-Men film came out, it was a serious attempt at a comic book movie at a time when that was a rarity. Now there’s a superhero movie every couple of months, and superheroes being allegorical while zapping each other with CGI is nothing special. Especially when it’s the same characters from back then, minus development.
Dark Phoenix could have been the Citizen Kane of superhero movies and it would have flopped. I know people like to shit on Captain Marvel - I found it pretty meh even as a MCU fan - but this theory is really reaching.
