You know what just hit me: Disney is the same place where Frank Zappa was in the eighties, to the point that they've created multiple Thingfishes. For those who don't know, Thingfish is an infamous Zappa album that is pretty much a poorly rerecorded compilation album masquerading as a Rock Opera/Broadway Play. The only tolerable song out of it is He's So Gay (Which is only good in the same way Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road and Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer are good), the plot makes no sense and Zappa fails at getting Terry Bozzio, Dale Bozzio and Ike Willis to recreate the magic that was their performances on Joe's Garage.

Good analogy. Sad Disney ended up here.

Saw the teaser. I'm so disappointed at the amount of people who are so impressed by it.

It literally looks like the same fucking movie.
Well so far they haven't pushed filthy wokeness in it so that's the silver lining (for now) so any bets on what this remake equivalent of "Lefou is a buttfucker"? Because if it is the same as the original without wokeness I'll be okay

I get all the people who dislike the potentiality of "Be Prepared" being removed from the Lion King remake, and I agree it would be really stupid on Disney's part to remove it, as it is the one of the *best* Disney villain songs of all time... (and I have already stated my love of Disney villain songs in general.) But... That is not my favorite Lion King Song. And... I would be totally ok with them removing "Be Prepared" if they replaced it with my favorite Lion King song (which didn't make it into the original):

(They shoved it into Lion King 2: Simba's pride after the fact, but it was in the original musical from the beginning and it's fucking great. AND it's actually a reprise of a song that Mufasa also sang in the musical.)

They're not gonna take the music from the Broadway show. Disney is desperate to get the Oscar of Best Original song, and you can't ad preexisting music into that category. that's why they just add shitty new songs to the remakes instead of basing them on the Broadway shows. (Look at Beauty and the Beast)

The one exception to this is Tron. I don't know what the fuck Tron did to deserve a sequel.

I liked the Tron sequel, though that was primarily because I saw it in huge 3-D with booming speakers. Being perfectly frank, the best part of the movie is the visual spectacle and the amazing score by Daft Punk. I don't think its a bad film, but three things would have made it more than just a sensory experience.

1. Replace Generic Attractive Guy with an actor that can keep up with Bridges and Wilde.
2. Explain why the AIs like Olivia matter besides 'digital jazz, maaaaaan'.
3. Spend more time/effort on the parallels of fatherhood and digital godhood.

If they're removing Scar and the hyenas I'm not even sure what the antagonist and motivation is supposed to be. All that leaves is wokeness. Maybe Simba has to struggle with being trans and constructing some kind of meerkat powered mane-shaver so he can pass as a lioness.

I will say it's cool seeing things like gemsbok and greater kudu

Also, do u guys think this will affect tourism and shit?

After the video game sequel was popular they forgot that it took twenty years for anybody to give enough fucks about the IP. Sorta like Blade Runner.

"He Lives In You" is my *favorite* Lion King song. It's amazing.

I had hopes that Disney would adapt the Broadway version for their Beauty and The Beast remake. Alas, that did not happen and the movie we ended up with sucked an entire bag of dicks.

I don't have any hopes that Disney will adapt the Broadway version for The Lion King ...

In aesthetics, the uncanny valley is a hypothesized relationship between the degree of an object's resemblance to a human being and the emotional response to such an object. The concept of the uncanny valley suggests humanoid objects which appear almost, but not exactly, like real human beings elicit uncanny, or strangely familiar, feelings of eeriness and revulsion in observers.[2] Valley denotes a dip in the human observer's affinity for the replica, a relation that otherwise increases with the replica's human likeness.[3]

Examples can be found in robotics, 3D computer animations, and lifelike dolls among others. With the increasing prevalence of virtual reality, augmented reality, and photorealistic computer animation, the 'valley' has been cited in the popular press in reaction to the verisimilitude of the creation as it approaches indistinguishability from reality. The uncanny valley hypothesis predicts that an entity appearing almost human will risk eliciting cold, eerie feelings in viewers.[4]

It looks okay from a technical standpoint, but again, the question is "why even do this in the first place?" Yeah, I get that money is the ultimate reason why (just like everything Disney does these days), but who even came up with the idea to greenlight this in the first place?

We'll always wonder. Execs are very odd people to deal with.
