...admittedly, the Night on Bald Mountain sequence was really fucking good and I actually wouldn't mind seeing that expanded on. Though I'm not sure if Disney will try to just straight up do family-friendly Satan or if they'll go into more of the Slavic folklore roots.

You could never make a movie with a plot out of what was basically an art film. And I doubt that Disney could do it well.
 
And seeing how the BATB remake was a big hit and we're still plagued by it everywhere, I think it's safe to assume this'll just a shot-by-shot remake of the original film. Wouldn't want to upset the 90s kids who will be the main demographic for this film.

Either way, if there is salt, I'm leaving @Ntwadumela to open himself the salt thread for this remake.

Of course it will be. And there are people who are excited for it nonetheless. And it will be a big box-office hit and people will cream themselves over it.

American culture is in serious need of reformation. Something is out of whack with us.

"IT'S MORE FEMINIST! IT ADDRESSES CURRENT EVENTS! DRUMPF! DIVERSITY!" blah blah blah. I guess the kids and the normies will just like it because of nostalgia...And the pretty scenery, I guess.

What current events could be addressed in a Lion King remake? Will Scar suddenly talk about making the Pride Lands great again? Will Timon and Pumbaa be outed as gay?
 
They outed Lefou as gay, and the Maleficent remake portrayed her as a rape survivor, so anything's possible at this point.

There is. I wasn't asking to have a realistic take on Timon and Pumbaa, love to see how they'll do the meerkat bipdealism, though I'm sure those ads with Alexander Orlov and Sergi are a good starting point.

I heard they're doing one, so needless to say, it is so until we hear it isn't.

Half of what makes Timon and Pumbaa fun is their stylized cartoony feeling, though. A lot of what makes the sidekick and comic relief characters in Disney movies fun are, as we learned with the servants in the Beauty and the Beast remake.

Hopefully they'll remember that, though I didn't see the B&TB remake.
