Good point, but you know the remake is gonna be obnoxious about the non marriage. Belle and the Beast, in their original film, also didn't get married at the end, but then came the remake going all pretentious on us being all "see, our Belle didn't marry her prince, that makes her leagues better above that stupid damsel of the original film"

If Naomi Scott isn't an obnoxious virtue signaler like Emma Watson I think it'll be toned down compared to Beauty and the Beast.

Somehow I ended up thinking of how insufferably woke a live action Princess and the Frog would be, though. The original made only one reference to how a poor black woman's restaurant probably won't be successful, because everyone understands that. In this day and age the film would have to stop every moment to remind viewers they're in the South before civil rights so everyone is racist. Also, the idea of a poor black person who wants to work hard and become successful is now problematic because meritocracy bad.

I figured out basically who are the audiences that actually look forward to these Disney remakes:

-Nostalgiafags (either 90s kids or the nostalgic parent wanting to share their childhood with their kids)

-Disney shills / crazy fans who have a "disney can do no wrong" mentality and applaud every product Disney/Star Wars/MCU makes, doesn't matter if it's good or bad. Hates non-Disney stuff with a passion without even seeing the movies.

-That actual crowd that is all "cartoons are for babies but I can totally watch Alvin in the Chipmunks with real people". I mean, these people must exist, after all.

-Progressives/tumblrinas/soyboys: 'nuff said. Could also put in here the We Wuz Kangs/white feminists/Islamists crowds in here.

-And of course the normies / curious bystander / innocent and easily manipulated crowd.

So it turns out people on Twitter are freaking out over Pumbaa. Keep in mind this is what you get for wanting a "live action" version of The Lion King and not realizing what warthogs look like in real life

I saw that some people on twitter were bitching how Aladdin somehow whitewashed the main characters? Something about Jasmine’s actress is only HALF Indian. That’s some nice biracial discrimination you got going there twitter.

Nothing is ever good enough for the woke crowd.

I mean picking a half white actress and inserting a random white chick is inappropriate casting. The right would be complaining if it went the other way, and rightly so.

and not realizing what warthogs look like in real life

Only the most fucking ignorant of people wouldn't know what a warthog actually looks like. Hell, if anyone grew up watching The Wild Thornberrys at the very least, they'd know exactly what a warthog looks like.

I seriously still can't believe the Disney execs thought this was a bloody brilliant idea because the moment Pumbaa shows up, it kills everything that made Pumbaa likeable in the original. It's a travesty. Same goes for Rafiki. Rafiki will give you wise advice while acting like a spastic and whack you upside the head with his staff, but you could chill with him. A mandrill in real life just wants to rip your face off and go hump his harem.

So what woke message will they add to this movie to shield themselves from criticism. Aladdin had that "Jasmine stands up to the patriarchy" crap, so...
Pumbaa and timon were gay all along, scar dindu nutting, that movie about the white lion never existed and we didnt copy it, the hyenas also dindu nutting, they just need more food for da programs and who can forget the obligatory comunism paralel with mufasa and simba reign compared to the capitalistic scar reign

The reason why animation and storytelling work so much better with animals than trying to replicate that in the "realism" they're going with. Designs are everything when you know what to do with them.

Or it's Hamlet with fur...
That would actually be pretty rad. Simba murders Nala’s father amid a blind rage, Nala goes insane and kills herself, Nala’s brother returns from some faraway land to get revenge and is manipulated by Scar into executing an ill-conceived public murder plot that goes awry and kills Simba, Scar, and everybody else.
