Did you hug your mom today/ call her?

I wanted to, but I can't. As a volunteer digital infantryman in the Ukrainian foreign internet legion, I'm presently stationed on the frontlines of r/ukraine, downvoting Russian trolls and laughing at videos of dudes getting sniped.

The war demands sacrifices from all of us, unfortunately. Slava Ukraini!

This is the first Mother's Day I'm not only away from home (I moved out of my family's home a few months ago- got tired of being a burden on them)- every single of of my family members is at least 4100 miles away from me.

I made sure to give my mom and my sisters a phone call wishing them both a Happy Mother's Day. I made sure to tell my Mom that every time I am able to talk to her on the phone I cherish- and I appreciate everything she does for our family and especially all the sacrifices she makes for me and dad especially. We went through some utterly tragic times between January 2020 and January 2022 and she really is the glue that held our household together. I couldn't ask for anyone better.

There's a shop in town that sells indigenous gifts (alot of beadwork, furs, and stuff carved from ivory). I wasn't able to afford anything today- but once I'm able to (most likely around Christmas) I'll buy something and mail it to her and dad. It's the utter least I can do
