I understand wanting to do something different, but they really aren't thinking hard enough about a lot of these plot points.
Thank you! So she didn't "personally confide" in Angel, she did it in front of the entire station... and in front of Dexter. Clunky-ass exposition. Did the writers go back and watch this scene too, or did they just go by memory?

Occasionally, the show is pretty realistic: the cops were just saying whatever they had to say to get Harrison to admit to the murder. They would have switched gears immediately and locked his ass in prison if he had been stupid enough to confess.
I have seen that tactic before, yeah, but artistic license and all that so I was kind've taking those two at their word since I feels like the show is trying to make them likable. IRL their assurances would only be good enough to wipe your ass with.
Wasn't that a significant factor in some high profile self defense case recently, where the cops were all chummy with the dude to get him to admit to things without a lawyer present which were used by the prosecution to try and incriminate him? Was it Daniel Penny?
Only if she's somehow caught red handed doing something else. She was staying in a B&B for the serial killer meeting, meaning New York isn't her usual haunt, so the cops have no reason to suspect she's involved now.
Sort of pertains to my post but I think the shower thing was bait on her part. Part of me wonders if she was also trying to bait Barney into killing her by getting a tattoo. She said she had been attending those meetings for years and she's familiar with his MO, so getting some "new ink" seems like an odd thing to do around a guy who specifically can't help but feel compelled to kill people with tattoos. If she's in fact more arbitrary than she appears, then that's a way for the writers to justify Dexter killing them all and planting the watch Harrison's got in her apartment thus diverting suspicion away from his son. It also diverts attention away from the Bay Harbour Butcher but I think Bautista will remain adamant on it and will end up dying in the end as a consequence and that's what finally puts Dexter away, maybe, to protect Harrison. Though I think Bautista red-flagged a possible death in that bar scene when he was in Miami.
If you recall she'll be staying in New York for a while since Tyrion has a bunch of activities planned so she may kill in that time. If Dexter gets the idea to frame her he may use himself as bait to put her in a situation where she's caught red-handed, maybe dying in the process since it'll exonerate his son and even himself since it'd probably remove any idea of him being the Butcher from Bautista's mind. The whole reveal of her collection + her MO was a major red-herring to me about a possible purpose she'll fulfil in the plot, otherwise after this episode beyond some intel on the other killers she'll just be waiting her turn to die or to serve as a mirror-copy of his last love-interest where they both kill people together who deserve it.
Tell me you didn't pay attention during season 4 without telling me that you didn't pay attention during season 4. The FBI literally raid Trinity's house and his family goes into witness protection.

The fourth victim being a child who disappears and is murdered by being buried alive was known to the police. Dexter rescued the kidnapped boy who tells of his being kidnapped, forced to play with a toy train and listen to music, then eating food and passing out only to wake up covered in liquid concrete. They even work back each Trinity Killer case and find that a little boy went missing each time and then dig up the church related buildings to find them encased in the ground.
