See the difference here, is that Dev wants to be, and proclaims to be, a legitimate politico. He supposedly has evidence, arguments, and all the above that will FOR SURE sway anyone to his side if they aren't LITERALLY A SLAVE TO TRUMP. So him, debating a lawyer, and proclaiming there needs to be violence, is a bit different than some random nobody on twitter making a joke post about TJD or something. And even then, journos are not the government, and haven't been targeted with assassination plots multiple times this year. Journos also don't have a more direct line to go after you when you call for such things.
If I were invited on a supposedly legitimate debate show and my point was "we just need to kill all jeets because they are evil", I would rightfully be seen as an insane person for saying that in such a context no matter how much a poison jeets are to America.

The problem is that power and morality and politics are not all the same. So dev has no power, that makes him have extreme morally charged opinions which he then projects politically. See how the downward spiral works there?
