Being directly confrontational and insulting people who liked the movie will get you some neg rep, yes. If I went into the DMC thread and said something like “lol DMC 5 was just full of stupid jokes for cringe weebs, that game suxs”. I’m essentially asking for people to neg rep me.

A different opinion is fine, attacking people because of your different opinion isn’t.

It was really good, I liked pretty much every but the scene where the Lickitung licks the protag because the saliva over the face

Finally got around to seeing this yesterday afternoon and I'm still fucking haunted by the Ditto eyes on human characters. I think it triggered my body's fight or flight response for a second or two when that one chick took her shades off. The fuck, man?

But now I really want Pokemon to be real so I can get myself an Exploud for them sick beats. The firefighting Squirtles and traffic director Machamp were pretty cool, but the Loudreds took the cake for me as the best use of a Pokemon in this movie. Needless to say, I want more.
 
Finally got to see it, anything I say would be redundant because it's been said already.
Although, I think I enjoyed the first part more where Tim is just awkwardly navigating Ryme city. The last act felt like a mood whiplash.

I don't know what the fuck is with this video, but at 1:50, Ryan mentions he read the script for the sequel and likes it. It still has Pikachu in it, but there's more Pokémon. Movie's made about at least $400 mil total, so I'd say that's a modest success.

Report from parents who saw it today: They thought it was a cute, decent film. Mom liked Psyduck, her favorite Pokémon, she was just sad he wasn't in the film much, and Dad laughed at some parts; apparently their favorite scene was the car ride because of the cute idea of them being in booster seats. They weren't sitting there thinking they were stuck there for an hour-and-forty-four minutes like I'm sure they thought about when the first two Pokémon films, however, they were stuck there with a three-year-old whose parents wouldn't discipline. Kid was excited about the Pokémon, but didn't care about the film itself.

Honestly, quite an interesting 90-degree turn after all these years, but Mom's always liked the idea of Pokémon. She never thought it was a bad series, she just expected us kids to outgrow it lol.

For a “testing the waters” movie, I’d say it did it’s job well.

EDIT: In Tsunekazu Ishihara's interview, he stated he's been thinking about a live-action movie for about ten years (whenever the interview was done), but none of the ideas worked. Many of them involved kids with superpowers saving the world with their Pokémon, which is extremely fanficy and gay, when he wanted more of a Stand By Me approach, so I'm really glad they shot those ideas down. But he thinks one day they'll have a movie where Pokémon do save the world, kind of like in Pokémon 2000, but there's too many movies like that out right now.

The 3D CGI movie preference he was leaning towards must've gone to Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution, then.

If I was a kid again I would of loved it, but as a grown ass adult I thought it was a cute kids movie. If theres a sequel and my husband wants to see it, I'll be more willing next time.

Acting was pretty bad though outside Ryan Reynolds.

Oh, and on the next page, it mentions that the effects crew actually blew up walls of mortar and brick by Justice during the chase scene. So yeah, dude almost got crushed by brick lol.

EDIT: Still reading through, nearing the end. It's seriously a cool book, it's awesome seeing all of this concept art and behind-the-scenes photos. There's one really neat memorabilia that came with the book that I want framed. It's almost made of the same material as X-rays, so I'll have to take a picture of it tomorrow when I have proper way to show it off.

Also this is now my favorite storyboard image of all time.

Okay, so the movie's out on Blu-Ray/DVD now, and I do have a couple things to say about it. I've yet to test out the Detective Mode since that's supposed to have like trivia and something on it (I dunno), but it did come with an alternate opening which is the scene with Tim at his office job selling life insurance. Someone calls in wanting to get life insurance for their Togepi, and Tim's like, "Ma'am, we don't sell life insurance for Pokémon", which I think is an interesting concept to bring up, but they don't expand on it. Tim has an office buddy who wanted to take him out drinking for his 21st birthday and go hook up with some chicks, but he turns it down because he was going to spend time with his grandmother--which his buddy then creepily asks if she's single.

It's a fucking weird scene I'm not gonna lie, and that's probably why they cut it because it was "pushing the envelope" I guess, but I feel like this could've stayed in the final cut if only to transition us to him being dragged out by Jack to go catch a Cubone right after work. It also would've foreshadowed the Togepi trainer in the Roundhouse lol, but oh well.

Far as I can tell, there aren't any other deleted scenes, and there's no blooper reel, unfortunately (note: I do not own a Blu-Ray player, have to use my brother's Xbox One and I guess layout's weirder on the Xbox). The behind-the-scenes didn't have much more to add that wasn't already in the artbook (and it's much more detailed, so money well-spent), but it's cute hearing Justice and Kathryn geek out about how much Pokémon meant to them as kids.

Best special feature was the "Mr. Mime Audio Commentary". I'll let that speak for itself. :story:

Rofl that makes him the most normalest queer out there, then. Never would've thunk it from what I've seen of him, honestly. But whatever, as long as he doesn't start dyeing his hair stupid colors or whatnot and insist that Tim has to be uwu qweer for the sequel.
