All of this for 50-100$ every few months if you want to actually play the game.
not anymore.
you also forgot the very spammy pseudo guiding tutorial which is plenty of texts too and you can only make it go away by pressing either esc or enter, sometimes...

i kind of get autists now when they complain about sensory overload, there is so much bullshit flying about trying to get your attention it's not even funny.
This was my experience. I got back into Destiny I think 2021 or 2022 and played the fuck out of it. I saw D2 was free and installed it and found myself in Destiny 1 again except with a more confusing map. As I kept going I realized that I was literally just playing the opening quest from D1 again which mind you I literally just did. Baffled I looked it up and found out that they removed the campaigns, absolutely baffling. Don't think I ever made it past Earth. There is always Destiny 1
considering D2 going EOL i think some people will check it again since they know it's going to be frozen in time and there won't be any fuck ups or more confusing shit to add so they can grind whatever, the game still pulls in some players and there isn't any hints of it being removed from steam but it's death is sure now as MMO's cannot stay without content for too long without dying.

if they had a smidge of intelligence they would unlock all of this shit now because a always online dead game with paid locked content is really not that attractive and these fucking retards are banking on keep D2's corpse as some extra income.

also it seems you can still get ddosed.

I still remember when the foids and fags came up with this shit and basically retconned Midnight Exigent from being Rasputin's report of his actions during the Collapse (spoiler, it was Rasputin that stopped the Traveller from fleeing and abandoning humanity, just like it had done to the Fallen, by firing the weapons it controlled on the Traveller, causing the damage it had on its bottom and spawning the Ghosts), to being a mere "simulation" of what it could've done if the Traveller attempted to flee. Because of course, the Traveller would never abandon us like it did the Fallen, and fought the Darkness head on for us unlike the millions of years it spend running from it. I hate the people that took over the narrative after TTK.
If i was a writer for D2 my shitty cop out would be that the Traveler realized the "indomitable human spirit and will" to protect it from harm and decided to stay because of that. It's better than anything bungo came up with.

Man, do i have a reddit cope post for you because i decided to check how the cope posting is going on preddit, it's funny seeing most of it, including this one which is beyond delusional.

i mean after being shot in the ass by a clanker i'd get to that same conclusion.
it is funny seeing that troongle shows the opposite if you ask if rasputin had shot the traveler, even showed a bunch of faggot videos from 2017, lol.

The whole thing was just fucking stupid and useless. If you read D1's Grimoire cards and TTK's Books of Sorrow, you quickly come to realize that none of the entities visiting us consider us anything more than mere specs of dust. The Traveler's arrival did to humanity exactly the same thing it had done to all previous civilizations it visited, it ushered a golden age in an attempt to develop them enough to have them fight back the Darkness on its behalf. Which always failed, because the Traveler always acted a beacon for these forces to come and consume the unsuspecting civilization, never truly having the time to advance enough, and the Traveler always bailing out before it came under real danger.

The reason we were made powerful, undying beings was that the Collapse and Rasputin's Midnight Exigent protocol cornered the Traveler, forcing it to make a last, desperate move, spawning Ghosts to create an army of undying soldiers to protect itself since it could no longer flee, like it had done countless times. The whole Midnight Exigent protocol was based on humanity's hidden distrust of the Traveler, sprinkled here and there in several Grimoire cards, which Rasputin agreed with and adopted. It fit the grimdark narrative, and it was also relatively obvious that humanity would ultimately have to win it's place among the stars and the entities trying to control it or snuf it out, without the Traveler.

The lifeless, emotionless Dinklebot fit this, I'm pretty sure the voice direction did aim for that feeling, it wasn't just a case of phoning it in. Not with people like Marty responsible for overall sound direction. But the community complained, since Bungie can do no wrong they just threw the midget under the bus, and fags loved it when Bungie pivoted and turned our Ghost into a chirpy, Marvel quip spewing queer. Bungie basically realized the community were a bunch of cum slurping retards, they could just retcon whatever they wanted as long as it was palatable to the positivity crowd. And because these things take time, you got D1 and its expansions being reasonably coherent, so the AIDS only truly started spreading in D2.

D1 was very bad at exposing it, but the original game and TTK had a depth of lore that was quite impressive. Hence my frustration. Bungie claimed it was a new Star Wars, and looking at the kernel they had created you could see it. D1 was very rough, but it was faithful to that kernel, and playing it you felt the potencial for something that would last and have quite the impact. Instead they shit the bed within 3 years due to lazyness, incompetence and politics.

I know, I sperg the fuck out about this. I wish I didn't, but just thinking about the average Bungie fan makes me livid. They give Blizzdrones a run for their money.

A Destiny 1 PC port with QoL changes is such an easy W and a cheap way to make some decent money, you know Sony would never even consider it. That company is allergic to money.

This is I think, still the case, however, now the Traveler likes us because we are part of it in turn.

though the Traveler didn't stay because of that, it stayed because there was no where left in the entire Universe to flee too, all life has been extinguished.

It's a real shame. Destiny 1 is a complete and cohesive package, with all content present. Meanwhile, Destiny 2 is going to be left a mess, with half of the game cut out and the remainder being a confusing mess. A massive chunk of the game is missing, someone trying to play the story chronologically now going from Rise of Iron to Shadowkeep. and then missing out on 19 seasons between all the remaining DLCs. 23 Seasons have been removed. That's hundreds of dollars:
  • $60 for Destiny 2
  • $40 for Curse of Osiris and Warmind
  • $40 for Forsaken
  • $35 for Forsaken Annual Pass
  • $40 for Shadowkeep's seasons
  • $40 for Beyond Light's seasons
  • $40 for Witch Queen's Seasons
  • $48 for Lightfall's seasons
  • $45 for The Final Shape's episodes
It probably got lost in the weeds among all the other stupidity, but at least they confirmed that they're finally, finally, many years too late but finally bundling all the DLC into one permanently discounted purchase. Expansions, the 30th Anniversary pack, the various dungeon keys, and all the other stuff. It's been a huge pain point over the years telling people all the stuff they'd need to purchase to actually play the damn game, so this should help someone at least. I'd only pick it up on sale, though, it's not worth whatever price they'll be selling it at (wonder if it'll be discounted for the Steam summer sale).

Doesn't do anything about the ridiculous amount of content that can't even be accessed anymore, of course. That list upthread really is depressing.

There were some hints in later lore that the Traveler actually saw something in us that the others it tried to uplift lacked and was inspired to make its final stand with us for that reason (I think the Ergo Sum sword lore implies that), but like everything related to the Traveler, it's all vague. Over a decade later and there's still nothing concrete there.
Reading all that just made it a shame that nobody even bothered porting Destiny 1 to PC. (Although Sony might hold on to that card as a "break in case of emergency" box.)
Hell, I would have settled for Wrath of the Machine getting ported to D2. Talk about an easy win. But nooooo, we don't wannaaaaa, SIVA is deaaaaaaad, stop askiiiiiiiiing. Yeah, and all the other raid bosses we killed in D1 are dead too, how is that an excuse?

I just wanted to ride the Death Zamboni again, bros.

I'm also reminded of how they were originally going to port the entire Cosmodrome over to D2, shipped about half of it with Beyond Light, said the rest was going to come in a future update, and then canceled that entire plan because it was too much work. So instead of being able to explore the entire zone and doing a full loop around the area, we're stuck with a half-baked shell of the original. Emblematic of the typical Bungie workflow, honestly.

Maybe, maybe it thought it could win with us, but there's also nowhere left to go, the Stars shine on dead worlds.

A Destiny 1 PC port with some quality of life additions is probably the only remaining way for Sony to make back some money for cheap
Porting D1 would definitely not be cheap lol. They can't actually "port" D1 traditionally in that sense. They have already said it would need to be completely rebuilt to be brought forward because of engine changes and other various technical bungieisms. Which is why the goal post moved to, "make D1 classic" which lol, lmao, not happening.

It took 3 years of work to "port" the cosmodrome in to D2. And even then it's a shitty version that's missing several things and isn't a perfect 1-1. If bungo is going to spend 5 years and 100's of millions they might as well make D3

Nu-lore detected. The traveler doesn't "like" us anymore than a castle appreciates its walls. Rasputin crippled it and forced it to make a call, bet it all on humanity or try to run with a limp. It put everything on "humans" and it's been a winning bet so far. But during witchqueen it proves that it's not "loyal" only to us. It was more than happy to create hive lightbearers to hedge it's bets. At the end of the day the Gardner and the Winnower have a bet and their pieces are going to each move respective to each ones gambit. Right now humanity plays a role but we might not always.

Also all life isn't extinguished, WTF? The cabal have an empire, the vex have a home system locked out of time and there's several rogue human colonies that survived beyond the reef that still exist in hiding.
SIVA is deaaaaaaad
SIVA mogges every faction in destiny but the writers were smooth brained pussies. Oh what could have been.

It likes "us" not Humans, it likes light embued zombie men, and "like" is a heavy word, it communes with us, it guides us, so that we can better fight its battle.

And from what I remember, the Hive and Darkness Ships have collectively wiped out almost all life in the Universe.

I get the principle that it's a lot of content that we "paid for" and currently "can't play" but the majority of the content mentioned here was designed to last like 3 months tops, to keep us occupied for the actual meat, like the reprised/new dungeon & raid, story content or a new expansion. The seasonal content is just plain dogshit.

I will concede however that redwar up till forsaken camp. being "vaulted" was a massive blunder. Because those were very important story beats cut out, and the RW camp. was a good new player experience for most people. Not to mention the raids. We will never be able to play LEVI, COS, SOTP, SOS, EOW and a reprised WoTM ever, that's the real travesty here IMO. Im glad to have jumped in during battlenet's free period. I personally got all the best parts of the game untill the end.

Also marathon killed this game, you cant convince me otherwise. They literally killed one of the most innovative co-op shooters ever made for slop

Efrideet(iron lord) is proof of the contrary. She explicitly states she's from a colony that survived past the reef and is undetected. Also the cabal empire still exists and the vex are untouchable if they don't want to be touched. Si the universe is far from a barren wasteland.

Again, there might be some nu-lore shit I'm unaware of about "ooga booga big bad pyramids, unga dunga brapped the universe." But that's bullshit and Bungie knows it.
On the topic of bad writing, does anyone else remember the horrible dialogue lines during D2 vanilla?
Yah, all of it.

hence the word "Almost", all the races present have some very minor standing in the universe, but everything else got fucked.

There's no burgeoning civilization for the Traveler to fuck off to, is my point.

vex are beyond retarded from all points, it's the same as "everything you do is because savathun made you do it" typa retarded shit.

I'm not a huge Destiny lore nerd but I will always hate Bungie for what they did to Rasputin. Playing Destiny 1 he was always this enigmatic figure. We knew what he was built for but it was never clear what his current objective was. What was he still capable of and can he be trusted. I loved that unease and mystery around him. It was grimdark in a sense because it seemed like whatever Rasputin's goals were, he had the balls and the means. He was willing to make amoral decisions if it meant humanity's survival and that includes being willing to shoot the Traveler if it even tried to escape.

That wasn't good enough for Bungie. They kept trying to humanize him. A galaxy spanning machine can't recite their quirky lines. It also requires effort to write complex non-human characters and God forbid we write anything interesting. So they made him gay, put him in the EXO suit so he could talk, just so they could kill him off. They knew they wrote themselves into a corner, that if Rasputin was strong enough to wound and contain the Traveler how was the Darkness supposed to have any chance?

That's not correct, otherwise the Traveler wouldn't have tried to leave, and Rasputin wouldn't have had to shoot it down to force it to stay. Yet both these things happened. Every civilization in the Traveler's wake got destroyed, yes, but the universe is quite... "large" for lack of a better word, and there's no indication in the lore that everything else outside of the Traveler's trajectory was consumed. The Cabal Empire itself wasn't, for example, they exiled Callus and he "met" the Darkness outside of it. They still stand because they weren't "elevated" by the Traveler. There are still plenty of crops in the universe for the Gardener to sow and the Winnower to reap.
