I just assumed most old people were simply being lazy because they're tied of existing for 70+ years, like those "golden years" fatties that are fully capable of walking, but ride rascals anyways because their ankles are sore from lugging around their 350lb asses. I get brittle bones and broken hips being incapacitating, but mental decline most of the time accompanying it, directly after injury? Sounds very much like a "don't feed the ducks" situation, like they let their brain decline because they assume people will care for them. That's a choice on their part.Another example is a broken hip; within two weeks, the individual often becomes much more forgetful and moves closer to needing assisted living.
Until they link glass bones as an early symptom of dementia, I am unmoved. You either physically deteriorate or mentally deteriorate within a short span of time. One can follow the other, but if it's both at basically the same time, I am skeptical about the human factor of choice and if that fate could have been avoided by a different level 76 player character that had also failed a fortitude check but had a successful will save.
