Disagree. It's people getting mad over articles from the Daily Mail. Trolling that board is so easy it's barely worth doing.

I'm pretty right wing and the only time I see an opinion I disagree with is because it's a more extreme version of my own, anyone that tries to make a leftist argument is immediately dogpiled off the subforum.

The subforum feels like diet /pol/ and that's embarrassing. Salt mine covers most notable A&E threads anyway.

No one is enforcing that. We had plenty of liberal opinions in the board before the election; more than conservative ones. There's just not much to celebrate right now as someone on the left side of the spectrum.

Before it felt like there was actual discussion and now it just feels like an echo chamber. But my main point is that the board is shit lol

The board is shit because no one moderates it and the people who volunteer give up. The board would be much better if people stopped making 1-line responses. I'm just going to start banning people who reply "Good." to every post. I've added a global rule redundantly to the board to clarify that if you have nothing to say you should not post.

Right now the featured thread is not 100% any which way which proves that if there's some room for discussion it happens.

I suppose if you could find someone willing to mod it and crack down on the bullshit then it could be salvaged but it is trash right now.

The featured thread is actually a good point. I have no inherent issue with the board, just that it's been really really bad for awhile.

Not true, people who lean left like @AnOminous who articulate their opinions well are generally respected. The issue is a lot of the more liberal posters like Techpriest tarded out and were mocked for tarding out.

Articles and Happenings is my favourite because it combines just the right blend of shitposting to content to make it consistently funny and ensure there's enough material about to let it maintain it's funniness without descending into a feedback loop of self-reference, and a lot of the news articles are genuinely interesting stuff that I might not have discovered otherwise. If the topic warrants an actual discussion it tends to happen, but it has to happen organically. If everyone was mandated to write a dissertation on the topic just to make any post at all, then every thread would be one or two posts each, or else bogged down with vapid filler.

Hangly tried minimum post lengths, and so did BRIAN!!!!! over at MPC. Let that sink in for a moment.
