More than just society, NEETs are an undue burden on their families. Parents will develop frustration and secretly wish their adult child died in an accident of some sort. Depression is a piss poor excuse as many depressed people seek, and financially prioritize help to stabilize them.
Given their net burden, along with increased deportations of migrant workers, the final solution for NEETs are work camps. The population pyramid of the US requires more unskilled workers than it can import. Someone has to pick lettuce, gut fish on boats, process meat, and build houses (to balance the need for actual workers, each skilled laborer gets one personal NEET servant wearing a shock collar as motivation to do something.)
Each NEET will be provided one small tent from a surplus store and be provided nutritional loaf equivalent to their work output.
This solution is also woke: regardless of race, creed, gender, all NEETs get the same.
Caveat: A grace period from 18 to 22 would be provided, and no minors would be expected to attend the camps. People who continue seeking employment or enrichment during times of economic downturn are also exempt. migrant laborers on legal temporary work visas who demonstrate actual work ethic will also be allowed to bully the NEETs. this is not as a perk to migrant workers but to remind NEETs of their place.
