for all his crying kojimbo cant let go mgs. that ending is ripped out straight from mgs4 except gayer
And I'm guessing it's unbelievably less effective. MGS4 at least had all of Snake's history to make things like the microwave hallway (however contrived and silly) meaningful. The final battle with (not) Liquid was the same way. And this rice nigger tries to pull the same shit with electric guitars and two dudes I don't give a single fuck about? Can't teach an old hollyjew shill new tricks it seems.

So if it dies on Steam too... is this Sony's fault now?

#fucksony
So this aged well.

I legitimately cannot wait for this to be released. DS1 is a guilty pleasure of mine. The vision is so pretentious, so nonsensical, so detached from anything that makes sense in either game or plot design that I see it as unironic art. And the long treks can be relaxing.

It's not a Monet painting, though; It's an asylum patient chewing on his own face, painting symbols in his cell using shit and blood while screaming about aliens. I'm enamored by the raw possibilities of what this Hollywood-budget schizophrenic freakout will do next. While part of me hopes the sales are abysmal so the PC port can come sooner, I'd rather the usual suspects circle the wagons and make this thing run off with some manufactured awards and a healthy revenue. Can you imagine just how fucked DS3 would be?
I've been playing DS2 on PC for the last week and it's an absolute joy. Kojimbo is surpassing my expectations. Glad I avoided spoilers so I could enjoy the madness fresh. I'm near the end, and just enjoyed the impromptu dance number/music video in the middle of what's supposed to be a serious scene. It's perfect art trash.

Unironically though, I will give credit for the great job done on the PC port, sound design and smooth gameplay. Don't think I've noticed any bugs whatsoever; it's very well optimized, which in my experience is a rare experience with games that start as Sony exclusives.

norman reedus character got straigh up cucked in this slop lmao
Something I found super funny about the love triangle between Sam, Lucy and Neil was that Neil loved Lucy but she ultimately loved Sam more. Combine that with all the '-man' names Kojima gives his characters and Death Stranding literally has a character named Neil Cuckman.

I just couldn't imagine being able to relax after a hard day of wagie work, potentially at amazon - just to come home and work as a dystopian amazon delivery boy in your "escapism".

That's exactly it. Over $100 million was spent to, ostensibly, make gamers who've probably never worked hard labor not only 'feel' like delivery boys but actually think themselves noble for doing so.

Death Stranding is an exceptional display of perversely out-of-touch messages on every concept it tries to approach -- cooperation, isolation, societal burden, fucking loss of a child, etc. It's an all show, no substance presentation of 2deep4u bogus, from the gameplay loop to the cutscenes to the credits. The script is absurd. The budget is ludicrous. And these details make it all a joy to behold -- it's art in mockery of itself, made all the better by the dev teams' ignorance.

And if I can't openly enjoy such mad vanity on this forum, of all places, then I don't know where I could.

Well I liked it. Overall, it's an improvement on the first game by having an actual story, as amateur as it is, and characters with motivations and agency driving it, even if the acting is pretty shit most of the time. The best parts of this game are so good I argue it beats out anything from Metal Gear. It's a shame, then, that there's maybe around a half a dozen of these moments in the entire game—more if you count BT battles. The rest is just... the plot.

Death Stranding is little more than Kojima's attempt to make a "serious" and "respectable" work in the eyes of the people he admires—Hollywood Jews and related celebrities. It's obvious this game is aping the big streaming shows from the COVID era, in the same way the first game had these strong theater vibes with many of its cutscenes. But Kojima can't write a "serious" or "respectable" or even Oscar-worthy trash if it came down to it. This is as much an overdone anime plot as any Metal Gear game, only with the most dull protagonists known to man, played by A-listers who may as well be amateurs (seriously, why is it that only Higgs' and Hardman's actors are the only ones who seem to give a fuck?). Ironically as a tv show it'd probably get universally panned for all of this plus the stupid contrived plot that takes forever to get anywhere interesting. And by then it's already over.

But... damn if that ending wasn't so awesome. Or the Higgs vs. Samurai fight. I could even forgive the stupid girlboss bullshit in the final push to Terminal when it became clear we were all working together as a team to kill the bad guys. The game promised me war but really it was just a protracted therapy session >:(. What's even the appeal... hardly see anyone talk about this game's plot anyway, outside of the flamethrower scene. Only few that do are fujos thirsting over Higgs, and Sam, sometimes even dressing up as him. Is this series for girls?

the impromptu dance number/music video in the middle of what's supposed to be a serious scene
God what a scene. It was fun, in a cathartic sort of way, and honestly the infodump preceding it wasn't all that good regardless. APAC was more or less trying to export its own torture onto the rest of humanity under the guise of saving them from the Last Stranding... like people being stuck in ze pod forever isn't going to lead to the same outcome regardless. Then Die-Hardman reveals he did a double betrayal on them from the very beginning so none of it mattered anyway. You might as well just start dancing then. Funniest part: if you look up videos of it you can find all sorts of people deluding themselves into thinking this a better scene than it really is.

The ending is ripped from Metal Gear Solid 1, just like everything else. With every other "homage" in this game I think Kojima has absolutely no idea how to make games anymore after 20-odd years of Metal Gear and movies rotting out his brain. I doubt he even plays games anymore, if he ever did. The core gameplay is ripped straight from MGSV it may as well be a really fancy mod made in that game's engine. Wish they included octocamo. If anything would benefit from it, it would be these massive sprawling open worlds and not the tiny maps in urban settings from MGS4

I just couldn't imagine being able to relax after a hard day of wagie work, potentially at amazon - just to come home and work as a dystopian amazon delivery boy in your "escapism".
It's pretty clear from the game and the fanbase this was made for a class of people that will never, ever work such a job in their lives but will act like they care about those people that do. And fujos. Tons and tons of fujos.

Oh yeah I forgot about the gameplay. It wasn't anything that ever genuinely challenged what the first game brought to the table. Any new features were little more than gimmicks and sidegrades of what already existed. The coffin board was really cool though. Just wish it wasn't so bumpy. Delivery aspect is somehow even more tedious than the first game. Still not even done with maxing out all the facilities :'(. I'd rather be done with this before the big finale.

Higgs was the best part of both games. His VA was obviously told to be as weird as humanly possible and he understood the fucking assignment.

I was baffled by Skillup's review where he claimed Higgs was the weakest character when so many other ones are boring planks of wood with no personality.

He says y'all a lot and nowadays that's a marker for faggotry online

I dunno either just spitballing here

And like half of MGS was ripped off from Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.
half? it's a remake!
Kojango has essentially been remaking the same game for his entire career. In one way or another, despite the appearance of complete crazy lore convolution... it's just remaking the same shit over and over. Snake or Snake adjacent infiltrates place, fights rogues gallery that gives you sob story, gets betrayed by someone, continues mission despite that, beats the villain who is likely their mentor OR learns something crucial about their mentor. This is done in MG2, MGS, MGS2, MGS3, MGS4, PW, and MGSV.

Whether Snake, Raiden, or Naked Snake... or Big Boss, Solidus, or The Boss, it's all the same route every game.

I just always found it funny that MGS literally shares specific sequences with MG2. It's probably been about 20 years since I played MG2 but I still remember

- A fight with a ninja who is a former friend
- Hind D boss fight
- Both the stairwell and elevator ambushes
- Shape memory alloy key
- Meeting up with a female dressed as a male guard in the ladies restroom
- Fist fight with pilot of Metal Gear immediately after destroying Metal Gear
- Grayfox helping you using an alias over the radio

Then he does a similar thing with MGS2 and makes it part of the story that the game is a "simulation" of the last game

MGS2 at least had the similarities with MGS1 be the entire point of the story, along with communicating the themes and messages in a way that didn’t overtake the gameplay or overall experience.
