I got AC installed in my house recently, and I can't believe how bearable summer is now for me. I can't believe how many people over here in Europe are so stubborn to get an AC for their household. Americans know ball.

I ghetto rigged my AC for $500 by getting one of those 15" wide vertical window unit. Fabbing up a 16" wide metal cage that slots between the 16" stud spacing after i cut a hole in the wall. You just plop the window unit into the cage, fill the airgap with insulation and put some trim to flush out the look. If the unit breaks i just chuck a new one in the cage (I left extra height). The bottom of the cage is angled so water drains out correctly with proper flashing all around.
Would have been simpler to install a mini split but they don't let me buy the gas without a license.
Isn't the EU basically pointlessly banning all the refrigerants used over the next 3-5 years? (even the newer safe ones created to replace the ones eco-turds bitched about before?) Some places ban them in favor of half backed building code shit and other measures? For he life of me, i can't figure out why the EU and most of western Europe isn't considered a totalitarian state. (even before factoring in speech laws and political repression)
