For those who have never played against or as Dredge, he has a built-in anti-camp around hooks: The entity blocks you from using any lockers within around 16 meters of a hooked survivor by showing them as white during your teleport charge, and you get an additional 1.1 second recovery after teleporting back to your remnant when near the hook, which incentivizes leaving hooked survivors. Guess what goes away the moment the survivor gets unhooked?
Now this would be fine if it wasn't for the fact that an infamous Dredge tech is to leave your remnant hidden by the hook in conjunction with Make Your Choice(Or similarly, Dragon's Grip on generators), so now not only is Make Your Choice going to be an S-tier info perk for killers, but Dredge has the ability to immediately capitalize on survivors who think they're safe. On top of this, Dredge
IS NOT one of the killers who gets a nerf to post-hook powerup, meaning that Dredge never has to run BBQ and chili again, and Friends Til The End technically gets nerfed from aura read.
If this patch goes forward and you wish to capitalize on this, I have a proposed build for you to have some fun and make overconfident survivors hate you more.
- Friends Till The End
Friends is an extremely oppressive tool on Dredge, as instant downs paired with high mobility often are. Hook a survivor, locker teleport to the new one, down them, rinse and repeat with some downtime as the perk recharges. This perk is a must-have and pairs nicely with:
- Furtive Chase
Alongside your haste buff, Furtive will work in tandem with Friends, allowing you to zip around the map while undetectable(A status that doesn't really aid Dredge in any form) on top of your post-hook powerup.
- Make Your Choice
Paired with the speed buff from Furtive and post-hook, using the Dredge tech of leaving your remnant hidden at the hook now gets an additional buff from the scream and exposure during unhook. If Friends is still on cooldown, I advocate using this while pretending to chase the obsession, which will also make survivors nervous about going for immediate unhooks.
- Dealer's Choice(Gen slowdown perk advised)
This perk slot is for your own personal pick. I don't typically run any gen-slowdown because I'm low MMR and I dislike Pain Res/DMS despite their efficacy. However, DMS on top of post-hook aura reading will allow you to make split-second decisions to ensure generators don't get popped too fast. I recommend one of the following:
If you enjoy gen denial - DMS, Pain Resonance, Pop Goes The Weasel, Tinkerer, Oppression. Other good options include Coup de Grace, Alien Instinct, Hex: The Third Seal(Which prevents Dredge's big white aura during nightfall), Rapid Brutality(Dredge doesn't often get bloodlust in chases and is arguably Dredge's best chase perk), Languid Touch, Fire Up, STBFL, Weeping Wounds/Gift of Pain, and Sloppy Butcher.
For addons, the Dredge meta is Ottomerian Writing(Faster teleport during daytime) and Haddie's Calendar(Breaks locked lockers faster), but other good ones include Malthinker's Skull, Boat Key, and Field Recorder.
I must preface this with a
GIGANTIC disclaimer however, as we don't know what perks will be "fixed", and by how much. For that matter, the devs may see just how bad this all is and back off, which I hope they do. But regardless, I'll post a more in-depth build once I know. Or I'll just abandon all hope and play Singularity instead.
