Anyone else think Gunn's Batman: The Brave and the Bold will ultimately get canceled?

Its tentatively slated for a 2028/2029 release - long after the merger should have gone through (assuming the merger isn't halted for some government related reason). Would the Ellisons keep Gunn around to finish filming principal photography?

They also haven't even announced the actor Gunn has cast for Batman, which seems a bit sus.

IDK, I just have a feeling the film will get scrapped.

That whole storyline was undercooked. The current mayor that Riddler killed was corrupt, but the movie never once explained why the black lady running against him was supposed to be a symbol of hope or whatever they were going for. We only hear about her in a few lines of dialogue then at the end of the movie it turns out that Riddler's entire plot revolved around killing her for some reason? It just didn't make any sense. The Batman should have ended before the retarded sea wall and assassination nonsense. Have it end with Riddler "winning" because he showed Batman that simply killing Falcone accomplished more good than Batman ever did beating up on random thugs. Batman still has the moral high ground but it makes him question what he's really doing, setting up for a sequel where Batman has to make more difficult decisions.

I wonder if Paramount themselves will distribute DC Comics movies or if they’ll have Warner Bros distribute them through the label. I strongly believe Paramount and Warner Bros will be separate labels, though Paramount will be the ones distributing.

With the merger looming, I strongly believe Paramount will cut down costs by shutting down redundant divisions, and so far DC Studios and Gunn are on the chopping block.

You could say that there is a bias towards Athena but half of Greece was allied with Sparta for a long period. As such, there has been people who could push back. It is worth mentioning that while Mars is associated with Ares, they were originally different gods. The Mars we know is a fusion of the original Mars and Ares. For one, Mars is a god of farmers and Ares-worshipping city-states in Greece looked down upon the profession. They saw it as necessary but not something a warrior should do. If I were to find differences between Mars and Ares, Mars is a god of soldiers and Ares is a god of warriors.

You have that incredibly backwards. Outside of Athens and some city states, Ares was the warrior god. Thrace, Anatolia, Italy (Etruscan Ares (Laran), and Scythia basically had Ares as their central war god/ champion of the sky god. Athena was a craft goddess associated with defensive war sometimes. Later on as Athens expanded their influence and fought what they considered barbarians Ares became effectively the loser because Athens associated themselves with Athena.

Iirc oddly enough Ares fights against Sparta during the Trojan War.

The whole movie would have been better if it had been cut down to two hours and didn't have that giant climax.

Making the mayor elect older and an ex-cop who the police hated because she turned in dirty cops she knew about could have been done with a few quick lines and would have sold me on the idea that she could get somewhere in the war against crime and would explain why the police didn't seem to be giving her good security in the middle of a crisis.

And Bruce doesn't call her out when she calls him "whitey". Moreover, the movie implied Bruce's dad was a corrupt ass and/or his money was used for nefarious purposes, but nothing comes out from that plot-point. Bruce also fails to stop the villain (who gives up), fails to stop the evil plot, and fails to stop the niggress from being shot. Fortunately, a Current Year's nig is one of the toughest materials in the universe, as it will distort reality to ensure nothing too bad happens to said person, going as far as to make sniper shots into flesh wounds.

This bothered me as well. Unnecessary cynicism for the sake of it that led to nothing. There's literally nothing good about the people of Gotham in The Batman, which makes you wonder why the fuck Batman cares so much about saving it.

I literally said that. I said that there would be push back by Sparta-aligned cities if they didn't agree with that characterization. I never said that the ancients saw Ares as a loser. It is more of a hindsight thing. There are a lot we don't know about the worship of the gods. What we know is that they would NEVER dare to disrespect a god. Even when stories portray Ares as defeated in some way, they did that because they really believed that such an event happened. Badmouthing a god was NOT tolerated even if they did think that their preferred god was stronger and would protect them.

Yes, that they did. They saw him as a god of warriors and a champion of Zeus. However, when war needed strategy or when you wanted a wise decision in everyday life, you went to Athena. In Greece, Ares was the god of warriors and Athena was the god of strategists. You needed a healthy warrior's body and a sharp mind to win so both were valued.

That is mainly what Rome thought of Athena/Minerva. For Rome, defensive war was unthinkable until the Punic Wars.

Yes, he was. Spartan culture wasn't an uninterrupted bodybuilding competition. The Sparta of the Iliad was far more mellow. Menelaus was the nicest/weakest of the Greek kings. Of course, he was STILL a king back when that meant "guy who has the strength of 10 men" so he was not weak.

Warner will likely handle all home media and physical media. Comics, DVDs, Blu Rays, even physical video game releases. Gunn's Superman arrived in a dark age for Superman fans. Evil Supermen were all the rage with Homelander, Omni man, even Gun himself made an evil Superman (Brightburn).

Even in official media he was portrayed as evil or an asshole. Injustice was huge, and even in DCSPHG which was made for young girls they portrayed him as a narcissistic asshole.

Once people got a non evil, non edgy version of Superman they all praised him for it, because in comparison, it is better than all the dark edgy stuff. But in a vacuum his Superman does come as a bit of a manchild and too whiny. And the fact he retconned of his parents screams like Gunn is projecting his Daddy Issues on Superman.

Gunn's Superman is just a dorky and nicer version of Star Lord, if you think about it.

Well that means Warner Brothers goes bust unless Disney spends the money to buy them, Disney has the right politics to get it through.

DC and Marvel merge and the next Avengers movie is rushed into production to have the DC heroes join the MCU, and Gunn is kept in charge of Superman at least.

Yeah, Nolan's movies did a good job of showing that most people were just trapped in the corrupt city, even many of the dirty cops were working for the mob out of fear of what would be done to their families, hence why a faceless figure with no family was needed to lead the fight.

The Gotham in The Batman deserves to be wiped out by the league of shadows.

Rome fought Pyrrus right before the Punic Wars. The Gauls raided and also caused Rome to basically constantly be at war after the Battle of Allia. Literally why the Punic Wars were bad were because they were slacking. Minerva didn’t even get big during the Punic Wars, Juno and Magna Mater/ Cybele did. Minerva did absorb traits of Athena before, but literally as a religious component she was not that big.

Athena worship is literally the original waifu faggotry. Athena literally crept into every role in the Pantheon . Minerva only got associated with war after the Romans got into Greek shit. The oldest descriptions of Athena are associations with the loom, not war. Later it was with the defense of cities and Athens making their patron the most important.

My main point being that Wonder Woman would be cooler if they leaned into Ares being more of the Scythian/ Thracian/ Roman influence. The Hera veneration also makes more sense with Roman influence as Juno is not a bitch in myth.
