On the one hand, they chose this and probably all of them were smug, self-satisfied idiots thinking they were better than those other horrible cishet white men.
But on the other hand I do feel a bit sorry for them. Looks like they really thought the SocJus crowd were genuine friends, people that'd have their back and would be more understanding than the rest of the cruel internet world. The Social justice sounds nice and peer pressure plays a part, as well. Most people want to be part of an in-group. It also allows them to wash away their 'sins' and a lot of these guys (males specifically) I'd say would have skeletons in their closet.

It's all about overcompensating for their own shortcomings by passing judgement on others like themselves, much like the evangelists that condemn homosexuality or adultery, and then are caught fucking rentboys or cheating on their wife with a side ho.
We're already seeing this in action with Izzy Galvez. He claimed to be all about helping women and fighting rape culture, when it turns out he knew about women being stalked and harassed and did nothing about it. He also kept pushing the whole "Doxing is bad! Anyone who doxes is scum!" line, and now it's been proven that he participated in the attempted doxing of a Japanese woman.
