💼 Careercow Darrick Dishaw / Venger Satanis / Kort'thalis Publishing - Incompetent TTRPG Creator, Filthy Coomer, Chronic Stoner, and Lovecraftian Cult Leader with a Cult of Grognards

I don't know about you, but this tweet was particularly retarded. Like, maybe the reason why they would rather play Magic: The Gathering than your Chaalt games is because, well, Magic: The Gathering is a trading card game where you get to collect and play with cards with pretty pictures. TCGs are way different than Tabletop RPGs, the only similarity is that they are games that can be played on a table traditionally, that is it. People play ttrpgs and TCGs for completely different reasons from each other because they are radically different beasts. What he is saying is like saying "Why play sports when you can LARP?"

Also, the recent sets of MtG have been pretty interesting, especially some of the crossovers which I am surprised they didn't do sooner. Though in Darrick's mind, Wizards = bad because woke = bad even if some of the stuff they make is good, no, in Darrick's mind it is all bad and if you support Magic, you are going to encourage them to make D&D worse somehow even though, again, different departments and most companies that specialize in more than one brand look at their brands separately, again, basic business stuff.

Darrick seethes that his low effort, no thought highdea riddled shitshow with sub PbtA crunch isn't as popular as the most popular card game out there right now.

Seriously, different media and tune. Card games are quicker, more personal between two people, and have a different style. Expecting a Magic player to want to play a TTRPG is stupid; they might not find it interesting.

Case in point: I don't care for minis games. Sure, I like WarHams Fantasy and 40k, but I play the TTRPGs rather than their minis due to a mixture of bad experiences with WAAC players and just not liking the way the game works out. I like my exploration and in char shittalking. I don't like to measure movement and to spend hundreds to not have a shit army. Doesn't help I never found painting minis all that fun.

Also science-fantasy my ass. Shoving in Lightsabers and robots because CONSOOOM OH GOD I'M CONSOOOMING STAR WARS isn't sci-fantasy. A DM and player in my group beats you in every single fucking metric Darrick brags about.

This has such Incel vibes it's making me cringe.

I like playing with minis, I enjoy painting (most) minis but mutha FUCK painting 100 minis before you can play. Also the autistic positioning of those 100 minis while your opponent autistically moves his 200 minis because he's playing 'Nids ( and the general unreality of mass tactical combat when orbital strikes are a thing.)

And sure WotC is woke, and woke has seeped into M:tG but... nigga its a TCG. Who gives a shit if the picture is Tranny or Hilter, or the stupid quote is "Black Live Matter" or "We must secure a future for the white race"? None of that changes the card being a 4/4 creature with trample that costs 6 uncolored mana. Sure there's some stupid story going on, but it doesn't affect game play. Its not like when they try to inject cripples and trannies or make Orcs into black people in D&D where the story actually matters.
I mean sure we should starve WotC of all revenue, but if you don't give a shit about politics and just want to play your Virgin Poker in peace ... nigga go on ahead.

That is aother thing my husband who is very much into Magic pointed out when I told him about the tweet and that is another difference between D&D and Magic is that while Wizards has as of recent has done stuff to try to appeal to women, POCs, and the queers and whatnot and done some stupid woke shit, most of the stupid woke shit they have done is stuff about the lore like adding non-binary characters, but here is the thing:

99 percent of people who play Magic, especially IRL, don't care about the lore, it doesn't matter to them nor does it affect gameplay of the actual card game at all. D&D on the other hand, is completely story driven and as a result, lore matters a lot and very much does affect the game and has seeped into the mechanics as a result.

Plus card games in general have definitely taken off a lot more in recent years thanks to the whole vintage Pokemon card boom making other TCGs want to compete more as well.

That recipe worked well enough for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. We got that franchise because Mattel execs couldn't decide if Conan the Barbarian or Star Wars are more popular with 80s kids, so they simply put both into a mixer.

I came closest to finding it fun when I was younger with my toy army men. My taste for all that positioning died when I both picked up RTS games and when I kept getting bodied by manchildren who were 10 years older than me who spent at least five times more than me.

At best I could be shanghaied into low point Battletech matches and Mordheim teams at this point.

Yeah people only care if their decks don't get fucked with tbh. That's probably why Yu-Gi-Oh! died like a bitch.

The cynical several hour marketing pitch Mattel had was still better thought out than anything Darrick made though. They had to make up bullshit like a plot, which Darrick never does really.

To give you an idea, Hasbro was more proactive and put more thought into GI Joe than Darrick ever did with Cha'alt. And Marvel had to explain to them that they needed to design a villain group for the Joes to fight when Hasbro tried negotiating a comic deal with them for the line.

I should have specified I meant D&D with minis; it's always too hard to try to get BattleTech together.
Sperg Aside: I have some hope for Augmented Reality making BattleTech Mechwarrior less of a pain in the ass to play, since a lot of the shit is begging to let computers do the math.

Teams/platoon level stuff is fun, the big army shit is just not fun to play for me. If there is a good commentator explaining what was going on, I've seen some WarHams competitive matches that were fun to watch because they time-compressed setup and movement.
Also because the guys playing were having a good time and not being petty bitches.

I also really hate it when experienced people just use the secret tips and trips to win. You don't have to treat them like they're a toddler and lose on purpose, but you should be helping them understand the hows and whys of playing.

Exactly.
TCGs also require math and strategy, so they instantly gatekeep Troons and dangerhairs by their very nature.

So there is some Twitter drama where someone on Discord told his friend Aaron the Pedantic that him being friends with people like Darrick and RPGPundit and stuff makes them feel unsafe. Of course, there is no elaboration on the specific stuff they did or said. For all we know it could be that Darrick is a coomer that makes women uncomfortable, but no, no elaboration.

Also, new blog post, which, is also extremely lazy. He makes a post about politics, but then fails to even write anything about it because, again, laziness (archive)

So I don't actually know all that much about RPGPundit other than he has a bad habit of trying to do "No true scotsman" bullshit and trying to claim that only he knows how to play some game 40+ years old or whatever. It kinda reminds me of the faggot who tried lying about beating Donkey Kong and having the high score, only at least Pundit hasn't sued anyone yet so that's something.

If Jim's the guy behind Lamentations then he does deserve mockery too, not gonna lie. He whines about his 'genius' in it quite a bit and it's why I have no real interest in reading it. I want a good system, not postings from a person whinging about their own life. Darrick is Darrick, so edgy baked coomer who vividly describes how clown tentacles violate the corpse. Don't really need to go on from that, because he's what happens when you're too much of a That Guy to fucking stop before you burn through all your gaming groups.

So while cringe, I think it still is more "cry bullies try to fuck with this dude via social shaming and shrieking" than it is the whole "Bro, your friends talk about clown rape, wtf?" thing. Mainly because that's how that discord post comes off as.

As for the blog, Darrick lies. He secretly loves being mentioned, is moaning in joy at the victimhood he has gained, and is desperately hoping to make some milkies out of it from his pay pigs.

Desborough's even more cringe than Raggi.

What type of mongo unironically makes a fucking game based off of Gor, the shittiest fanfic of John Carter out there?

I will give Gor credit for one thing: Lange solved the usual technology arms race problem by having Insect Space Wizards Ion Cannon anyone who gets too advanced. Which is better than Stirling stomping his feet and just declaring the shit he doesn't like stops working.

Honestly that seems to be about as big a cop-out as Stirling, and I don't like either writer. Draka was dogshit and required a million idiot balls to "work". Gor is bad John Carter fanfiction and forgot that it was supposed to be adventure pulp after like I guess the first couple books.
"Coomers" is the answer to this question, surprisingly the same demographic that buys Vengers books.
Again, he's done other things from what little effort I put into looking him up, but they don't look any better.

He's just Darrick if he had a work ethic when he's not being forced to write something that isn't coomer garbage. Seriously, are all the OSRfags just That Guys who got kicked out of their old group decades ago for being too retarded to stop raping things and trying to describe their arcane sewer goblin fetishes?

Also do all of these idiots pretend they know what film is? Darrick has his stupid take at film verite, and now Desborough actually brings up Giallo. The only difference is Jimmy probably kind of gets it right.

Yeah, most competent writers would acknowledge advances in society overtime rather than making stupid cop-outs. Like, even in the John Carter books there were these solar guns IIRC.

Reminds me how I tried reading a Gor book once, one where it was told from the perspective of a woman. As an actual woman reading it, it was laughable and I couldn't get through it, it was like it was written by a guy who has never talked to a woman in his life for more than a minute.

Of course, he is also pretty sexist against men too, like, John Norman according to that one sex guide her wrote, legitimately believes all men fantasize about raping a woman, those who say they don't just don't want to admit it.

It is telling that these coomers would eat that shit up

Re: Stirling I mean his post-apocalyptic wank fic, no idea about anything else of his.

With Gor, I meant the Priest Kings keeping everyone at the same tech level and just watching for entertainment. Everything else about Gor is completely stupid and I started doing the "only read the first & last sentances in a paragraph" thing so I barely remember the one book I read because people were clutching their pearls about the "Gorian" people larping Gor online. If it wasn't for the weird over-thought out dominance shit, it'd have just been a normal bottom-tier pulp 70s sci-fi.
I don't even class it with John Carter.

Re: Stirling I mean his post-apocalyptic wank fic, no idea about anything else of his.
I wouldn't know; I just know he's a shit writer who only got copies sold due to being kind of early on Alt-history writing. Draka sucked ass.

Eh. It sounds lame even then, only a bare step above whatever dumb excuses Stirling has for his post apocalypse settings. People forget those aesthetics tend to fade as society rebuilds.

As for why I compare it to Carter, it's purely because Gor's writer openly states he was inspired by the series. He openly ripped off a lot of aspects too from what I remember as well. So yeah it's like 50 Shades in that respect.

Also I just found the lame LARP of a z-tier pulp book cringe and the only good bit of Gor anything is "You are House Plant".

Those are two different people.
James "Grim" Desborough is the Jim guy who is alluded to and who is also a co-host for Inappropriate Characters.
James "JimLOTFP" Raggi is the publisher of Lamentations.
Correction: Grim quit Inappropriate Characters a year or so ago, because he didn't like the "Covid misinformation" coming from Pundejo and Wanker. I notice he still has ads from the Epoch Times on his YouTube vids, though, which is basically same difference. I suspect there's probably more to it, but that's just my gut feeling. Something personal on Jim's end. I mean, how long could you stand interacting with those two fuckheads? In any event, he's probably missing those controversy clicks, because he has guested on IC a time or two since.

Pundejo is actually pathetically funny, but he keeps most of his funny shit on the DL, or at least he tries to. His OpSec is garbage.
