It's like Tevin('s fault) said years ago, it's impossible for anyone to support phil without shitting on the trolls. DSP's narrative he made for himself makes it so you can't simply support him, it's so you can stick it to da tractors and mentally ill shitheads. The two are inseparable.
This relies on the assumption that DSP's narrative has always been "donate to support the trolls" and we've never seen DSP without this kind of mentality/theme, which is simply not true.
I forgot when DSP started Twitch streaming (full time) so let me just assume it's 2016+. This is generous enough to assume that DSP did not have this mentality. So what were DSP's methods of survival? He was still relying on views, so there's that, but there was also patreon. And as we know, patreon was a pretty damn good meal ticket for DSP earning around $2,000 per month I think? People wanted the perks, people wanted to legitimately support DSP.
In the private QnA leaks, from memory, there were legitimate questions. The closest I can remember to wanting to own a troll was triggering DSP to basically trash Review Tech USA. I don't recall the SoK being mentioned, Tevin, or any of the detractors on those videos, and if they were it was most likely just very brief.
And that brings us back to now. The people who donate to "own the trolls" have a hard on for attention, simple enough. I don't even have to mention who these particular people are because they've practically won, synonymizing their own name to DSP's support, which is now synonymous to owning the trolls through their messages and tipping names. DSP didn't create the mentality, the whales did. They're the ones that blurred the lines. The two are more than separable or else Sidella wouldn't exist, JaxxRaxor wouldn't donate every SF stream, RobOnWheels would be popping off on trolls, and SuperBlindMan would step up more often. People will support Phil just to support Phil, but more often than not it's because of the pigroach deception.
