It's not about what is hate speech or not. It's about what Twitch thinks is hate speech, because DSP agreed to their terms while streaming there, and also claiming he was a changed man, but in reality holding himself back massively because he was afraid of Twitch's TOS.

It's not about "supporting" words like 'retard' or 'faggot' being banned/frowned upon, but about DSP bending over backwards whenever he can profit from it, and throwing a hissy fit whenever it blows up in his own face.

It's a private company. Why would any company want to offer a platform to a guy who constantly berates his viewers, calls them retarded, morons etc?

Sure, you could argue that people are too soft etc, but companies like Twitch will always pander to the majority, and the majority doesn't want their kids watching a guy who spends most of his time begging and insulting everyone.

I very much doubt Twitch legal actually cut him loose due to hate speech. They can terminate any partnership at any time, they don't need a reason. I'm just going to assume they wanted rid of Phil and used a blanket excuse just to shut him up. Even if Phil was to take legal action, it wouldn't work, Twitch are well within their rights contractually.

Besides, he really hasn't been spouting hate speech, and when he did it would likely have been met with a warning.

At the end of the day, he broke a rule of the website. We can talk back and forth over whether or not we agree with said rule's existence, but he still did not adhere to the private company, who should be allowed to enforce the rules they set, or the standards they have.
If Phil hinged the success of his profession on this one website filled with dumbass moderation and have no prepared back-up plan, that's on him. He still chose to profit off a service that's anti-free speech, and turned a blind eye whenever any of his "co-workers" were banned for the same reason.
