I believe the only time I ever saw Phil say sorry for something he said was when he said that thing about "some faggot, so-some homo in YouTube" and chat started to complain about him saying those things. And it wasn't even a heartfelt apology, it was more like "okay, sorry, there, are you satisfied now!?".

The guy is actually unable to genuinely feel sorry for doing something wrong. That's what happens when you live more than a decade as a hermit. He doesn't understand how important it is, for a person to be likable, to be able to own up to when you fuck up.
Which is why he's so disliked and hated. He can never give a genuine apology or admit any responsibility for the bad things he did in the past. He feels that he's always in the right and can never do anything wrong. Always pulling out excuses and blaming others for his failures. If he really wanted to be less hated on the internet or have less detractors, then simply apologize and own up to what you did. It's honestly what most people are asking for but he can't do it for whatever reasons.

I wouldn't say he's lived "hard." Nothing about what he does is "hard," except for his gin consumption. Phil has lived an extremely slothful and slovenly life. Both of those things are easy to do, as evidenced by Phil.
Years of sedentary lifestyle is hard on your body. Systems break down when they're not used properly. Humans aren't meant to sit on our asses twelve hours a day, do an hour's worth of chores and cooking and then sleep, which is Phil's day-to-day very optimistically. We know he's not eating primarily fresh fruit 'n veg from his own mouth, too, so factor that in. I'll even do him a favor and not assume also the popular theory that he drinks alcohol to excess regularly, which would not help matters.

You don't need to be a meth-addicted prostitute sleeping there hours a day to age faster than you ought. For most people it's by degrees for reasons very much like Phil's, though maybe just not to the same degree, and hate to say it but he's pushing forty. That is around the time that many people start to hit the wall.

He could have done the right thing and said that he was sorry and won't do that again, but his ego and pride won't let him.
And it always gets to that point because of his compulsion to aggressively insist that he is smarter than every one around him in all situations.
The other night someone sent him an haiku and Phil mocked it for having the incorrect number of syllables per line. When someone pointed out that there are different ways to structure haikus, Phil said they were stupid, there was only one way, and that was the point of a haiku.

Needless to say, Phil is completely incorrect. It makes no sense why he would take a hardline stance and insult someone over something he is clearly not an expert in. He can't just say, "There are? I didn't know that!" No no. Phil Burnell is going to die on this hill, and every hill he builds for himself.

He also always has to go from 0-60 and start attacking everyone that disagrees or even doubts. Even the early corona rants wouldn't have been as bad if he hadn't immediately started calling people stupid sheep, lauding himself for not buying into the 'fear-mongering', and spouting weird assumptions as fact (like 'everyone will get it') to support his point.

But as long as he can police his chat, he'll never have to concede on anything.

I believe the only time I ever saw Phil say sorry for something he said was when he said that thing about "some faggot, so-some homo in YouTube" and chat started to complain about him saying those things. Well.... he apologized for calling all other gaming streamers 'shills' on twitter after they all turned on him. He deleted the tweet and said he shouldn't have said it, it wasn't what he meant.
Then recently he went on a rant about how right he was to call them all shills and how he didn't back down even after they all attacked him.
So if you ever do hear him apologize, assume it's fake. We've certainly never seen a real one.

Just wondering here: has Phil ever talked about vtubers?

Since they are both streamers more successful than he is, and also cute anime girls who appeal to the waifu mentality of many people who support them, I'd imagine that Phil would absolutely hate them.
he hates them because they get showered in money and are better at games than him. also they seem to actually like video games.

also I think phil should just go down the vtuber route, that way he can look like he does in his fan art. too bad he won't take the time or spend the roughly $50 for all the software you need for live 2d face rigging and with popsicle gone no one will be there to make 2d phil.

Yes, Phil's lifestyle is hard on the body. I was more going with the more...presumed definition of "living hard" of someone acting recklessly and without moderation to the point of harming himself. Missing the khantext of what you meant by "hard" is my fault. He's just had a much easier time of being able to be that hard on his body. Living like that has a pretty steep drop-off, too. Once he hits a certain point, his health will plummet like his ad revenue did.

I'm sure most of us would feel like a damn corpse if we had to go with his routine for a week. Shit, this working/teaching at home stuff already kinda does and I'm 2 days into the week. At least when all is done, we can go outside and ride bikes or something. I cannot imagine what it would be like to do the Dave all week.

better at games than him.
Not that that's a hard thing to do, but some of them are indeed pretty fucking good gamers, I get surprised when I watch some clips and one of those girls is absolutely murdering everyone in some fps.

Man, now I really want to hear Phil's take on vtubers who play better than him, earn more than him, and are infinitely more loved than him.

dsp can't understand the concept of waiting for a game to release to see what accessibility options there are

not everyone needs a game on day one, some ppl have patience, and there's an entire community dedicated to reviewing accessibility options for games

dave just proves once again how out of touch from reality he is

Uh, well obviously they're just scrubs who are exploiting lag and didn't earn their wins at all mahran.

What's even more sad is that this all of his doing. His body is going down the shitter is all of his fault. He's doesn't to go outside to have a walk/run around the neighborhood, he doesn't want to eat or drink anything healthy for his body, doesn't want to get off the couch and stretch or exercise a bit, and he doesn't even want to have a good sleep schedule. All he does is sit on a couch and playing vidya 24/7, eating junk food, drinking gin into the early morning, and getting four hours of sleep. For someone who claims to be living a "great" life, there's no excuse into why he's killing his body by living such a unhealthy lifestyle.

He must really be feeling rough about the Cuties blowback and is looking for some good PR/moral high ground - he's leaning hard on his 'champion of accessible gaming' angle. He's worked this one a few times before.
As usual, he hasn't actually kept up on anything and there's no hot news on his twitter feed relating to it, so he has to try to grab some attention by saying something completely patronizing to the highest profile physically disabled person he knows.

lol yeah Botan went 20-5, #1 on her team in MW multi-player with an mp5 where as phil refused to use anything besides the m4. she laughs off her deaths while phil complains and makes excuses. its night and day.

...who also happens to be a documented whale.

How convenient, Phil talking progressiveness to someone who's given him thousands of dollars.

And it's so disingenuous too. As if Phil gives a shit about anyone. The guy who has never in his life done a charity stream, who probably hasn't donated more than 100 dollars to charity his whole life, and who threw every person who liked him under the bus.

It's the same reason he sometimes spouts random game trivia or straight up lies about things he's done in older games. There is literally nothing more important in life to Phil than the momentary dopamine rush he feels when trying to be the most interesting/intelligent person in the room for the current conversation. It's how he compensates for his dead personality, poking holes in other people's stories and putting his non-achievements on pedestals. And if he isn't smart enough to learn anything about the current topic, like Nier Automata, he'll write it off as poorly made and move on.
On the plus side, he's generally always shown up by viewers who are actually passionate about something, leaving him quiet and clueless, which is always a laugh.
"Your favorite Pokemon's 'Mareep'? ...I have no idea what a Mareep is. Thanks for the tip."

Regarding the whole stroke thing, I doubt he had one, I think it's just regular "wear and tear" from being a hermit who barely even moves in his house and whose exercise routine consists of carrying a gallon of milk once a week. I did once take a quick look at DSP through the ages about a month ago but it wasn't a deep dive. I noticed that his body started deteriorating much more quickly from about late '17-early '18 than what it used to. His beard was always patchy, but now it looks even worse plus it's greying, also that comb back is working overtime now, whoever does his comb back is a goddamn expert considering how much the Norwood Reaper is starting to slaughter his hairline more quickly than what he used to.

OneyPlays just talked about dsp in their new samurai jack video about 19~ min in when they're fighting the Scotsman https://youtu.be/7JJM9xNzAzE
Welp, they just signed their death warrant. Talking about shit that happened years ago, are they mentally impaired?
Smiling Friends is forever cancelled, Bowlbo will be a flop. They're on their way to Outlasted status now. And DSP will wait for their careers to be gone before saying anything bad about them, because he's that badass and real.

Guess I hadn't thought about it but I've been working from home last few months due to the coronavirus so I've gotten to kinda experience similar circumstances to what Phil puts himself through on a daily basis.

There's absolutely nothing at all preventing him from getting daily exercise. I enjoy going for a walk around Park near my home on lunches. It's quite a nice way to get legs moving and just chill. I wake up early, batter my way through work much as I can in morning so I can have an easy afternoon playing ps4 or surfing the net while still clocked in.

Phil is the master of his own schedule but acts like a prisoner to it. Bloody idiot.

Walks really are underrated for many things, especially losing weight since they allow you to spend like 200-300 calories by walking an hour at a decent pace (Which might not sound like much but it's over a tenth of the daily intake, very much not negligible), huh, Phat Fil ?

And assuming he doesn't stay up late at night solely to drink gin and hate-tweet (I know, I know, but bear with me for a minute), it also helps with that problem. There was a time when I would go sometimes days without sleeping and that f#cked my sleeping schedule up. Going for a walk at night to get some fresh air, tire and calm myself a bit, then shower is a great recipe for going to sleep easily.

Of course telling Phil that getting healthy might be a good idea isn't the most productive use of our time, but it really would be that easy to improve for him.

As to the schedule thing, honestly, I'm not sure Phil is that stupid to do it. He's not a regular streamer with lots of comings and goings among his viewers, with people dropping a dollar or two every now and then because "Oh, I had a couple hours to kill, watched you, I was entertained, here's your pay for the service, good sir/ma'am". Phil is essentially being paid a salary by a select few paypigs (With the vest goal, it's almost a literal one, 200$ dollars, rarely more, no less, every "worked" day), so it's not that stupid for him to actually have a schedule since he wants the same people to always be able to find him streaming, and repetitive, strict hours do that. If he changed his hours, how would IceCoffee be able to keep the streak going ? If Phil shifts his stream later, maybe he won't be able to wait for the small time paypigs to help him reach the goal; if Phil streams earlier, then he might miss the deadline altogether.

Actually surprised a timelapse of that doesn't already exist, especially given he basically doesn't move and is always against the same background.

Just take vaguely similar frames from one video a day/week and watch Man fall from grace.
I've been secretly hoping for a while that some enterprising detractor would make a 'timelapse' style video using screenshots from @EmperorGoutatine 's posts. Even just over the last 2 years Phil has deteriorated visually quite a bit.
